With the US election on the horizon I figured it would be nice to have a place for CIVIL political discord. That being said feel free to drag your third world non-american politics into the mix as well

Billionaire puts cushy lifestyle on hold in an attempt to restore economy and patriotism, refuses salary and watches own net worth decrease while being smeared relentlessly by corrupt media and compared to Hitler by uneducated, far-left crybabies because he only cares about self. emoticon

I don't think narcissism has much to do with wealth or cushy lifestyles. In this case he's already a billionaire. He can afford to "refuse a salary". There are a whole bunch of traits associated with narcissism that Trump fully displays; an inflated sense of self-importance, seeks praise and constant admiration (you only have to watch one of his interviews), exploits others without guilt or shame and frequently demeans, intimidates, bullies, or belittles others. I am of course no expert but there are experts in the field of psychology that recognise he's one. In fact I was reading about a psychologist that uses Trump as a text book example of a narcissist in his teaching at university. But then I suppose, as in the case of covid-19, experts in the field of something are often irrelevant, i.e. his recent appointment of this Dr. Scott Atlas, a neuroradiologist, who apparently knows more than Fauci, an immunologist. Yeah, that makes total sense - In the world of Donald Trump.

Ok, but he IS refusing a salary. That IS unselfish. There is literally nothing wrong with it. One could even say that it is a goood thing regardless of motive. But he doesn't deserve credit for that or anything because you hate him. So, we'll only acknowledge the fact that he can afford it so it doesn't sound as good.

Once again, not saying he doesn't show narcissistic qualities, but he also makes a lot of obvious (to me) sarcastic comments. Some of what he says isn't to be taken 100% seriously, although a lot of the people who analyze his every word/move are quite serious, and very, very serious about catching him in something, even if it's just him being an arrogant jackass. It's seemingly their only concern. And I'm well aware of the types he belittles and "bullies". I'll just leave it at that

My entire reasoning for supporting Trump is because of logic over emotion. I've listed my reasons, and you'll throw a wrench at them no matter how logical my arguments are. Go ahead and try to convince me that endorsing a party who pushes racial and class issues, raises everyone's taxes, and funds terrorists while digging the country deeper into debt is logically convenient for anyone. This isn't rocket science.

"Btw I don't see how space exploration is essential to humankind?"

Because it's space.

You the one who wants Trump to steal the election and put an end to having democratically elected delegates to the Electoral College.

"Because it's space."
That's no answer. That's like saying yeah how cool it is that we can travel to different planets. That it costs tons of money and we haven't found any life on these places is not to important. There is resources yeah but apparently nothing humankind needed for millions of years before. Moving to another planet first find an atmosphere or even better clean up the shit on your own planet.

I could say that the army isn't really needed either if humankind got smarter and stopped causing wars over territory, resources or they just hate each other for different religion, race, skin color. But after millions of years we always have idiots who want to rule the world and exploit others. An army (and weapons) is unfortunately needed even though it doesn't solve the root of the problem. It's unsolvable I'm afraid. There is always people going to be unhappy and jealous because they want something someone else has. And since there is probably always going to be rich and poor it's a pretty vicious circle.

Logic over emotion ok than how you feel about this:

The president is mismanaging the corona crisis, you really don't need to be an expert to see that.

How would you feel your family would get hit badly? It's ok as long as the economy is saved?

How is it good for the economy if many people die or you just hope the old useless ones die? Sorry granny but you have to go, it's for a good cause.
Where is the logic in denying it, saying it's just like a little flu and it will go away like all other viruses. Those were just all assumptions and they were wrong but seems you swallowed them. Is there any moment you can show the president took that crisis seriously?

Than we have Trump's behavior now:
The Elections are fraud and we have proof. Well there is no proof. That sounds much more like accusations motivated by emotions and not logic. Could it just be that there were many people not being happy with how the president was managing things?

It does make you wonder when a judge throws out the lawsuit in Michigan how much "proof" Trump has, i.e. none. I think the term is "clutching at straws".

No matter how hard you try, you won't convince many Trump supporters that more Americans dislike him than like him and actually voted to kick him out. I am not sure why some of them can't get their head around this. It's called democracy.

He gets butt hurt by anyone who doesn't like him.

That's just the undiagnosed narcissistic personality disorder shining through. One of my cousins has got it as well so I recognize the signs; Trump has all the Rome criteria.

Wasn't Biden refused communion from the Catholic church due to his stance on abortion? Not sure how being a Christian and supporting abortion goes together.

I know many Christians who are pro-Choice. It might depend on what part of the country one lives in, among other things...

I just don't understand how a Christian could murder an innocent unborn baby. I've never met a pro-Choice Christian.

I've met beaucoup over the years. Lots of different sects/schisms/factions/whatever of Christianity. Not all have the same exact values, apparently (I'm non-religious, so no expert). My best friend's family are all Born Agains, conservatives and they still are pro-choice.
