Lance Henriksen and Arnold Vosloo play a couple of a rich assholes who like to hunt the homeless. They promise them a fat wad of cash, give them a head-start and a safe-zone destination, and off they run... The game goes well for a while, until they make one big mistake. They go after...

Jean-Claude Van Damme. And he has a mullet!

So some damsel in distress comes along and ropes a very capable drifter (JCVD) into an investigation on her father's death, and things kinda work their way to a bunc... Continue »

I need a few fairly obscure, low budget movies with themes of witchcraft or the Occult if anybody can think of any? Preferably made within the last 20-25 years or so...

Hey cunts! Just thought I'd recommend this rather glorious newish flick. Is it trashy? Kinda. I mean, it's from Spain and arguably anything that comes out of that country is a bit trashy.

Thing is, I don't wanna write a review, because you genuinely should go into this knowing nothing about it. So I'm not gonna tell you anything about it. I guess if I were to give a hint, it's kinda like early Coen Brothers crossed with Ari Aster. Sounds like a fun time, right?

"But Ninja", I hear you thin... Continue »

From a cinematic point of view, this movie is basically perfect. It's got all those long slow takes where you see how sweaty everyone is, because they're all method actors. They're really sweating out there in the spaghetti west.

Charles Bronson plays the ultimate man, using the sexy slutty chick to his advantage while Henry Fonda and Jason Robards fight about railroads or something. If you get insomnia and have 3 hours to kill, this movie is for you.

I remember finding the fat ke... Continue »

For War Week, I only watched a few. I hadn't seen this one yet, nor any WWI movie for all I know, so why not? It turned out pretty good, too. Even for a PG-13 movie.

Franco joins the French military as they're trying to utilize and weaponize these new flying things called "airplanes". Pretty entertaining overall, and a few scenes stuck with me.

SPOILERS

When they first fly into the air against enemy planes, that one guy gets his plane shot down, and he crashlands his plane as be... Continue »

I'm in the mood to watch something, series I havent seen anything for the last 20 years. Something along the following lines.

1. The Goodies
2. Bottom
3. Fawlty Towers
4. Red Dwarf // though later series are not so good
5. Father Ted, Blackadder (though early on)

Not a TERRIFIC film, but it got into my head in some ways.

First of all, one excellent reason to watch this is that two of the actresses are QUITE attractive, IMHO. One had a Megan Fox-y kind of appearance, but with a sexier voice. The other kept reminding me... mostly of Imogen Poots, (which I mean to be a compliment, I always thought she was beautiful), but she also reminded me a little at times of Amanda Detmer, and maybe Natasha Lyonne, always in a good way.

Also, most of the main charac... Continue »

Imagine a Friday the 13th film, except the big silent killer is the main character. The camera follows him around through the majority of the film, and his victims are just in the periphery.

Obviously, this leads to very little character development, and little dialogue. There is also no musical score, just a little bit of source music in a few scenes. So there are times when the movie can feel a little bit too long and boring.

So yeah, I wouldn't call it great or anything, but I would... Continue »

Apparently there is "a new Michael Crichton novel" coming out in a few days. What that means is that it is a novel that he had done a lot of work on but did not finish, and now James Patterson has completed it and polished it up for him. Good enough for me. I am looking forward to it.

Does anybody here have a strong sense of how close we are to AI being able to just churn out content in the styles of various deceased authors? I bet they can do it already, but I have no idea how good the res... Continue »

My work had a 5.1 surround sound setup on clearance for $160. I saw it yesterday and figured I'd give it a day to mull it over. In that day, it dropped down to $120, so I took it as a sign. I set this fucker up and it was relatively painless, and it works.

What are some movies that really shine in surround sound? Probably some action movies where the bullets fly from every direction, but anything that helps with the immersion.

Thoughts?

Well, that subject line should grab people's attention (one would hope).

I just wanted to mention that I went for a walk last night, and felt a little like Randall Flagg. I was just out getting some fresh air so I could think more clearly about stealing a nuclear device to destroy a community of good people in Boulder, Colorado.... hey, maybe THAT'S why I felt like Randall Flagg! I didn't even think of that. Wow!

No, I was reminded of that character because of the stuff about him being Th... Continue »

I know many of us have fond memories of her. I haven't even heard her name in ages... anyway, I recently watched Shadow Puppets (2007), in which she played the main character, so I ended up google stalking her. Apparently she is married to Michael Rapino, CEO of Live Nation and possibly in some kind of very high-up position with Ticketmaster, if I have this right.

He has been in the news a bit lately, and probably will continue to be there, because of Ticketmaster's generally grotesque and... Continue »

I went on Saturday and after the always cofusing admittance process, I went straight to Matthew Lillard's line. Hey, my nephews love Five Nights at Freddy's, so I wasn't going to bail out on that. Besides, I hadn't met anybody from Scream yet, can you believe that? I've met just about all the other big deal horror guys, but nobody from Scream. Since his FNaF venture, Lillard's fame kinda blew up at these cons, so his line was pretty long, but he handled it well, and since I had chi... Continue »

Some of you reading this must already know about this. I just found out about it. This movie is an adaptation of an old Stephen King story! I have read the story, it's pretty good. Anyway, yah, had to share.

The Phantom of the Opera is like Dracula or Frankenstein. They're all in the public domain, so there are a lot of them. Any other notables besides the following?

1925 - Silent film, iconic, Lon Chaney's weird makeup, colorized ballroom scene, solid old school stuff.
1943 - Universal one with Claude Rains. He was cool, though always more renowned as The Invisible Man. Not bad, but not as memorable.
1963 - Hammer one with Herbert Lom, one of Hammer's less boring entries.... Continue »

The original 2008 film was a highly praised home invasion slasher when it came out. I was incredibly disappointed with that movie. The direction was terrible, the characters were lame as fuck, but at least the killers looked cool.

About 10 years later, they did a sequel, which was a hell of a lot better. If you've seen that movie, then you'll know that the strangers die at the end, so where can we go from here? Not just a prequel... but 3 prequels?

Renny Harlin is no str... Continue »

So a little over a year ago, this video popped into my recommendations. I was intrigued, so I checked it out.

Obviously, this is the kind of shit I live for. So I had to check more stuff by the Toxhards. I was a little confused at first, as the rest of their stuff sounded fairly normal by comparison, and apparently that wasn't even their regular lead singer, but their drummer, singing for that song. But then this song really grew on me, hard.

We should do some kind of thread about him. If he doesn't get a little love here, then where will he? I mean, come on. I am in a rush right now, but if anybody thinks of any good stuff to post about him, please do.

Anything come to mind? The Vanishing doesn't exactly fit in here, but, well, sort of... some scenes fit.

I'm just trying to think of some good horror or thriller movies to watch that take place in a lonely western highway setting. Horror, ideally.

Joy Ride is sort of a guilty pleasure for me, I guess. I know it's not THAT great, but it surprised me the first time I saw it, that it was better than I expected, and I still like it.

Anyway, anything leap to mind?

We have probably done a few posts about this before... I'm just mentioning that apparently they have finished filming this. IMDB says it is completed, and that it is 153 minutes long. I guess they could still do some more editing if they wanted.

It is directed by Gary Dauberman, who has done a lot in recent(-ish) years.

One interesting thing that jumps out at me when I look at the IMDB page for it, is that Spencer Treat Clark as Mike Ryerson gets top billing. He is listed first as a s... Continue »
