Dec 2017
The first two would be just a week long.

The Week of Love (February 11 to February 17)
Points:
1 Points) Movie with the word โ€œLoveโ€ or other romance related words in title
2 Points) Individual killed while โ€œmaking loveโ€ (not combined with #3 below)
3 Points) Two or more killed at the same time while โ€œmaking loveโ€
4 Points) Each person killed by a loved one (husband/wife, father/daughter,boyfriend/girlfriend. Basically immediate family or dating)

Shark Week (whenever Shark Week is this year)
Points:
1 Points) Movie with the word โ€œSharkโ€ in the title
2 Points) Individual killed by a shark (canโ€™t be an off-screen death, must be seen)
3 Points) A shark dies (again, has to be seen, not implied or off-screen)
4 Points) Two or more sharks die at the same time
5 Points) Two or more people killed by the same shark at the same time

October Challenge additional challenge
Watch at least one movie from each decade from 1920 on

I'm posting these now for input, since Feb is two months away, and if things go as planned with my PCT thru-hike, I won't be around for Shark Week or possibly part of next year's horror challenge.
So... thoughts on the above?

An animation challenge could be cool.

Animation hasn't really been my thing since I was a kid, but I know there's a lot of badass animated movies out there that I haven't seen and would enjoy. There's of course a fuck ton of Anime out there, and then there's cool 70's shit like the films of Ralph Bakshi. The possibilities are pretty much endless. I figure anything could count except regular movies.

Yeah. One scene wouldn't cut it. Maybe it should be the majority, as in over half.

Definitely Month. I have no idea if anyone is planning an extreme challenge next month or not. If not, maybe January. Or I would be happy to discontinue or move the black and white.

I might be a little more enthusiastic about the B&W if we change the rules. I don't know what I was thinking making it to where you can only win if you watch a bunch of 20's movies. That's fuckin' bullshit. Might have to cave in to the runtime system. Seems to work for everyone.

Netflix has an entire Anime section and I'm sure Youtube can provide some cool shit, too, so, material shouldn't be hard to come by at all. should be as successful of a challenge as the current one or the last one.

Someone suggested that a few years ago, but I wasn't all that into changing anything, even if it meant enjoying it more, myself. Both systems make sense in different ways, but a reversal might add more enjoyment, especially for someone trying to rack up points. So, yeah. We'll do that.

Yeah, I might do that. I'm pretty open to suggestions this time.

Yeah. What Box_A_Hair said. Originally, I thought it would be a good idea to have 20's movies be worth the most points cuz they are harder to sit through (in my opinion). Guess I was looking at it from a Turkey perspective. However, I would be willing to watch bad movies to win a challenge. I can't say the same for silent films. emoticon

I was thinking about an Animation challenge for next month, but maybe we need time to prepare for that. Get together recs and stuff. Maybe it should be in April which means we could bump the B&W up to next month if we wanted. January feels more suitable for black and white, anyway. And Animation sounds like something that might be a better fit for Spring time. But then it occured to me that maybe we should go with the runtime point system, after all. That way we could add tv shows. A surprising amount of black and white on Netflix, and a hell of a lot more on Youtube. I was watching Little Rascals episodes on there earlier. Made me think of that.

So, that's a yay on moving the B&W to January?
