1. What is your favorite Italian horror film? Beyond The Darkness (1979)

2. Why? Dark as fuck, memorable gore without hardly any gory scenes. Only movie to make me sick.

3. Who is your favorite Italian horror director? Joe D'Amato

4. Why? Cuz he had pretty eyes.

5. What Italian horror film has your favorite music? Hell Of The Living Dead (1980).

6. What do you think is the goriest Italian horror film? Burial Ground (1981). It's crazy how much more of that movie you can see on dvd/blu-ray than on that Vestron vhs.

7. What about the sickest? SALO!

8. Italian zombies or cannibals: Which do you favor and Why? Zombies. I like the cannibal movies better but the zombies aren't such dicks and not afraid of sharks.

9. Gialli. Underrated or overrated? A little overrated, I think. Plenty of good ones, though. Just few and far between, imo

10. When do you think Italian horror peaked? 1980

11. What was the last really good Italian horror film in your opinion? Massacre In Dinosaur Valley (1985). After the mid-80's, Italian magic no more.

12. Favorite Italian exploitation film that isn't horror? Women's Prison Massacre

13. Favorite actor or actress that regularly appeared in Italian horror films? Crazy motherfucker from Hell Of The Living Dead.

14. What is your least favorite Italian horror film? New York Ripper

16. Favorite Italian horror film, say, post-Cemetery Man? Taeter City (2012), I guess

17. What Italian horror film is really underrated in your estimation & should be seen by more people? The Whip And The Body. Lots of fuss over other Bava films, but they're all boring as shit except this one, imo. beautiful movie!

Oh, yeah! What a difference. Maybe only rivaled by Humongous in terms of revelatory VHS-to-DVD transfer.

1. What is your favorite Italian horror film? Tenebrae
2. Why? Love the look, excellent pacing, great music, awesome deaths, rad ending
3. Who is your favorite Italian horror director? Argento
4. Why? Simply because he's made the most movies I've adored
5. What Italian horror film has your favorite music? Hard to say. I'm inclined to go with Phenomena. Some of the music composed has such a majestic quality to it.
6. What do you think is the goriest Italian horror film? Burial Ground possibly. Maybe Cannibal Ferox?
7. What about the sickest? Emanuelle in America with that horse masturbation scene
8. Italian zombies or cannibals: Which do you favor and Why? Well, I love me some cannibals, but I'm a diehard zombie fanatic to the end and the Italian ones are just so much fun. So, zombies
9. Gialli. Underrated or overrated? Personally, I never got the appeal all that much. Overrated. Yeah, I love Tenebrae and all, but a user on the old imdb boards said it best, "Tenebrae is like the Scream of gialli." The gialli heyday, early to mid-70s, was just never my thing. It's been several years since I've seen any of them, so a re-assessment could be in order.
10. When do you think Italian horror peaked? Early 80s
11. What was the last really good Italian horror film in your opinion? Cemetery Man
12. Favorite Italian exploitation film that isn't horror? Blastfighter
13. Favorite actor or actress that regularly appeared in Italian horror films? Easy! Giovanni Lombardo Radice. He always died in the best ways
14. What is your least favorite Italian horror film? Zombie 5: Killing Birds
15. What was the first Italian horror film you saw, and when? Zombie, in 1994
16. Favorite Italian horror film, say, post-Cemetery Man? Maybe Fatal Frames. Shot in 1993, but released in 1996 - so it counts!
17. What Italian horror film is really underrated in your estimation & should be seen by more people? Murder Syndrome

1. What is your favorite Italian horror film? Maybe City of the Living Dead.

2. Why? It has great gore, great music, and I enjoy the undead priest as the main antagonist. Plus it has Christopher George, Catriona MacColl, and Giovanni Lombardo Radice.

3. Who is your favorite Italian horror director? Maybe Dario Argento.

4. Why? Mainly because I enjoy more of his movies than not. With someone like Lucio Fulci, I think some of his movies are enjoyable, but I also think a lot of them aren't. I admit though, there are still a few Fulci movies I've yet to see, along with the likes of Joe D'Amato, Bruno Mattei, and Umberto Lenzi.

5. What Italian horror film has your favorite music? Tenebrae, without a doubt. That's one of my favorite scores period.

6. What do you think is the goriest Italian horror film? I'm not sure. Probably one of the cannibal movies.

7. What about the sickest? I don't know. Nothing on the level of horse masturbation. emoticon

8. Italian zombies or cannibals: Which do you favor and Why? Zombies. Cannibals are fine, but I'll always be more interested in zombies. I'm also not crazy about most of the cannibal movies I've seen.

9. Gialli. Underrated or overrated? Overrated. I enjoy some gialli outside of Argento, but not many. They're very hit and miss for me.

10. When do you think Italian horror peaked? The early '80s. No later than 1982.

11. What was the last really good Italian horror film in your opinion? Probably Cemetery Man.

12. Favorite Italian exploitation film that isn't horror? Street Law

13. Favorite actor or actress that regularly appeared in Italian horror films? Probably Giovanni Lombardo Radice for me too.

14. What is your least favorite Italian horror film? Maybe Mother of Tears. Yeah, the guy I list as my favorite Italian horror director also directed my least favorite Italian horror movie.

15. What was the first Italian horror film you saw, and when? Zombie, in 2004 or 2005.

16. Favorite Italian horror film, say, post-Cemetery Man? Maybe Sleepless or Tulpa: Demon of Desire. I haven't seen much post-Cemetery Man Italian horror.

17. What Italian horror film is really underrated in your estimation & should be seen by more people? I'm drawing a blank. I can't think of anything worth anyone's time that isn't already well-known by Italian horror fans. emoticon

1. What is your favorite Italian horror film? They Have Changed Their Face (1971)
2. Why? They Have Changed Their Face is perhaps the most innovating and original take on the Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. In this intoxicating allegory on capitalism, they substituted the well- trodden Dracula with a successful and powerful businessman
3. Who is your favorite Italian horror director? Lucio Fulci
4. Why? Gore and atmosphere!
5. What Italian horror film has your favorite music? Suspiria (1977)

1. What is your favorite Italian horror film?
Cannibal Holocaust (1980)

2. Why?
It was one of the first "extreme" horror films I'd seen, and it had so much going for it: Great score, great gore, and a porn actor with a great mustache.

3. Who is your favorite Italian horror director?
Ruggero Deodato

4. Why?
His cannibal films are excellent, his David Hess rape movie is great, and he's a really nice dude.

5. What Italian horror film has your favorite music?
So many to name, but I love the themes from Cannibal Holocaust, Jungle Holocaust, Zombi 2, and Suspiria. I like to whistle the theme from Jungle Holocaust the most.

6. What do you think is the goriest Italian horror film?
Cannibal Holocaust maybe? The real animal killings give it that extra edge.

7. What about the sickest?
Beyond the Darkness made me go, "ew", so probably that one. emoticon

8. Italian zombies or cannibals: Which do you favor and Why?
The best cannibal movies are Italian, but as dumb as their zombie movies can be, those are fun as hell.

9. Gialli. Underrated or overrated?
Rated accordingly. I love the idea of them, but I haven't seen that many great ones.

10. When do you think Italian horror peaked?
Probably 1980. Cannibal Holocaust, House at the Edge of the Park, Nightmare City, and that ridiculously fun Hell of the Living Dead.

11. What was the last really good Italian horror film in your opinion?
Cemetery Man 1994. Haven't seen much beyond that year. It's like Italy just gave up after that.

12. Favorite Italian exploitation film that isn't horror?
2019 is not entirely horror, so maybe that one. Otherwise, 1990 Bronx Warriors? I also like the original Inglourious Bastards, and Fred Williamson's "Black Cobra" series is fun to watch, because he's bad-ass.

13. Favorite actor or actress that regularly appeared in Italian horror films?
An obvious answer is Giovanni Lombardo Radice, even though he always plays a complete tool. Asia Argento is hot, but her #MeToo shit is pretty stupid. Me Me Lai is a lovely cannibal lady... but the coolest hands down is Michael Sopkiw.

14. What is your least favorite Italian horror film?
Some Fulci stuff is shit. Never cared for The Beyond.

15. What was the first Italian horror film you saw, and when?
Probably Cannibal Holocaust, back when I was just getting into horror around 10+ years ago. It was a stepping stone.

16. Favorite Italian horror film, say, post-Cemetery Man?
Probably "Spring" (2014), which is set in Italy, if that counts?

17. What Italian horror film is really underrated in your estimation & should be seen by more people?
I've always liked Bird with the Crystal Plumage. Just a rather engaging giallo, I think.

Nice idea

1. What is your favorite Italian horror film? There is a few to pick from but somehow I find it hard to beat Mario Bava's Black Sunday
2. Why? Story ain't too complex, just some good ole witchcraft and terrific atmosphere
3. Who is your favorite Italian horror director? Mario Bava
4. Why? Especially for the atmosphere he can create especially in his pre seventies oeuvre
5. What Italian horror film has your favorite music? To be honest I don't pay enough attention to that.
6. What do you think is the goriest Italian horror film? Must be one of Lucio Fulci, City of the Living Dead perhaps or one of his later works of which I already forgot the title
7. What about the sickest? I think Cannibal Holocaust more in the way the white adventurers treated the good spirited cannibals
8. Italian zombies or cannibals: Which do you favor and Why? Hard to choose but I do think there is more good zombie movies than cannibals so go for zombies.
9. Gialli. Underrated or overrated? It's not really my kind of genre even though Fulci made a few entertaining ones before he got to the gorier flicks. I tend to lose interest at the randomness sometimes mostly with Argento. So yeah overrated.
10. When do you think Italian horror peaked? 1980-1981
11. What was the last really good Italian horror film in your opinion? I guess The Beyond (1981)
12. Favorite Italian exploitation film that isn't horror? It does hava a horror tag but well can't think of anything else White Slave (1985)
13. Favorite actor or actress that regularly appeared in Italian horror films? Asia Argento as I can't think of anyone else
14. What is your least favorite Italian horror film? I have seen worse but somehow I really dislike Suspiria
15. What was the first Italian horror film you saw, and when? Don't remember it could be I Vampiri
16. Favorite Italian horror film, say, post-Cemetery Man? Trauma (1993) is the closest I can remember
17. What Italian horror film is really underrated in your estimation & should be seen by more people? I Vampiri, clever concept for its time and really atmospheric early flick from Bava

That's exactly what I was thinking. I really liked that movie too. It seems like it could qualify for the goriest or the sickest, at least in terms of non-zombie and cannibal films.

I'm having a hard time answering a lot of the questions. I like a lot of Italian horror films.
