I really liked this sci-fi horror. Dark, creepy and surprisingly unpredictable.

Because let's face it, that's the most interesting part about the superbowl to those who don't give a shit about sports, so what have we gotten out of it so far?

Indy 5 looks all right. It looks like Karen Allen is coming back, and Indy is still fighting Nazis. What more do you need? He's still got it.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 looks all right. Trying to take on a dramatic angle with the hint that it'll be a downer ending, which I'm all for. Plus, it was great to hear that Rainbo... Continue »

I have seen thousands of people in movies catch on fire. But you know what I've never seen? One of these flaming motherfuckers stop, drop, and roll! Holy shit! This is basic stuff, people! I remember this information being pounded into my skull practically every day all throughout grade school. If you ever catch on fire, what do you do? STOP, DROP, AND FUCKING ROLL! They said it so much that I believed it was an inevitable part of life that I would one day catch on fire.

And here I am, totally... Continue »

Holy cow. Is this well known? I don't think I had ever heard about this before. That would have been incredibly cool. He was killed when the script was still at an early stage of development. It's mentioned here, just a little above the Filming section.

OK, this is a hard post to classify. I'm gonna post it in the Television forum because I saw a story about it on television. Why not.

I posted something about this once before, either here or on IMDB. It made me sit up and pay attention, partly because of how insane it is, and partly because it has a local connection for me. One of the people in the story grew up in the town next door to where I grew up, and I'm pretty sure we knew some of the same people. So, yikes.

ANYWAY, here's th... Continue »

You know, that spin-off from TCM2 about Chop-Top in prison? It was an on-again/off-again project by Tobe Hooper's son featuring the triumphant return of Bill Moseley, featuring Buckethead as Leatherface, and scoring the movie.

Want to know more about it? Tough luck. Consider yourself as informed as you'll ever get. Info on this is rare, so this doc will give you the most intel you'll ever have about this lost film.
Basically no relevant cast or crew members are willing to be interviewed for thi... Continue »

The doc covers the early 80s satanic panic around a dysfunctional teen drug dealer Ricky Kasso who killed one of his fellow teenagers in 1984. A few points of interest:

- Features Jim Van Bebber. No, he wasn't involved, but someone probably offered him some weed and so he made the whole thing more entertaining. I'm pretty sure I saw him light up there once. Find out what his religion is here.

- The happenings occur in Suffolk County, New York. This is the same place as the Amityville Horror,... Continue »

Not too bad for a fan-made unofficial spin-off of Pulp Fiction.

The film shows a couple days in the life of Zed, Maynard, and the gimp, leading up to their confrontation with Butch and Marsellus. There's not a ton of plot here. It's basically just someone shows up to the pawn shop, gets killed, repeat. But it's a quick 70 minutes. It's gory and trashy, and the lead actors seem to be having fun with it.

I definitely wouldn't call it a must see, but it's not disrespectful to the source material... Continue »

I don't know how this one slipped by me. It feels like something I should have seen over 10 years ago. I think I may have got its title confused with Rush Week and thought I already saw it.

It came out in 1990, but still has that 80s slasher feel. Back in the 60s, Joey Belladonna, singer of Anthrax, accidentally gets killed in a hazing incident, and is now back for revenge.

It contains a whole lot of fraternity hazing hijinks. A whole lot. In fact, halfway through I started to forget I was w... Continue »

If you don't know who Brother Theodore was, you are in for a treat. He has a Wikipedia entry. It is impossible to really explain or describe what he did, but, just give him a chance.. here, watch this, and trust me, it just gets crazier and crazier as it goes along.

Showtime used to be cool back in the day, but now they suck ass. Paramount acquiring them is a downgrade for Paramount, much like HBO acquiring Discovery was a downgrade. I don't understand that one, because that only lead to some convoluted fuckery and show cancellations, but what do I know? Not like I even watch half the shit that's on either one of these platforms, but all these murders and executionsmergers and acquisitions are annoying.

Can you believe it's been 10 years since this movie came out? This series is as old as I am, so I must overthink these things. Fiona Dourif (born 1981) plays Nica (born 1988), and is thus supposed to be 25 in the movie. So I was 25 when this came out. God, I miss my 20s. I didn't do much with them, but I sure did love being more resiliant in those years. And it had only been 8 years without a Chucky movie and I'd already thought this franchise was dead...

I'm glad this movie went back to its ho... Continue »

Aside from a few exceptions, I firmly believe movies ought to make sense. It should be the second rule of filmmaking right behind entertainment value, or in some cases, interesting subject matter, depending on the genre. I was watching this one movie the other day, and while it seemed to go OK for a while, it occured to me about half way through that I hadn't a single fucking clue as to what was happening or who anyone was. Not exactly the first... Continue »

Been watching the Child's Play/Chucky series all week. Watched Seed earlier only because that's the only way I could watch the ENTIRE series. But talk about jumping the fucking shark! Every bit as cringy as I remember. I think the problem began when someone decided a movie about Chucky's kid had to happen and was the logical next step. I suppose there was really no way to... I was just thinking, the next time they do a Carrie remake (you know it's just a matter of time) it would be pretty funny if they did the entire movie as straight horror, with absolutely no comedy at all, but then, when Carrie is at the height of her hypertelekinetic killing rampage, they had one male character turn to another (just any two male high school kids at the prom) and say "Bitches, man," with a totally straight face, and the character he says it to would nod solemnly. That would rea... Continue »

F9, the ninth entry in this fucking ridiculous series. Do people really love it as much as they think they do? I think Vin is mediocre at best, and none of the rest of the main cast are particularly A-listers that can sell a movie outside of these nostalgia-ridden teamup efforts. If you don't have a good cast, surely, you must have a good story, right?

Nope. Old plot details are forced into this movie as our characters literally question why they're still alive and unscathed after all these ins... Continue »

you guys, this looks pretty interesting. I don't think I am going to be able to finish it tonight because I just found it a few minutes ago at 2:30 AM where I live. But, I will try to come back to it this weekend.

It is an alternate history, of a WW3 that, of course, did not actually happen. It is set in 1989 and early 1990, but the events of the film diverge from real history pretty early in the film. Anyway, what I have watched so far is interesting and well done. It seems to be some k... Continue »

I'm not a fan of Motley Crue, but I am a fan of titties, so I binged it. Pretty interesting series of events. Rand (Seth Rogen) is a carpenter who Tommy Lee (Sebastian Stan) gives the runaround and refuses to pay him for his work, which really screws him over financially. In "compentory" retaliation, Rand steals the sex tape...

You want him to get revenge because Tommy is such an entitled dick. Rock star in the worst way, which is to say Stan played him well. The performances are great. Lily Ja... Continue »

This was a pretty interesting episode, from 1976. They could have gotten a whole movie out of it. In fact, it may have influenced some horror movies that came after it aired... see what you think.

I shouldn't say too much about it, but I'll just say that it draws partly upon the tradition of ideas from Forbidden Planet, and from Carrie, and it MIGHT have laid some of the groundwork for The Legacy, NOES, Poltergeist, and Halloween 2.

I made a habit of watching F13 movies on actual Friday the 13ths, but I've slowed down on that. I think I was getting a little burned out on Jason after all these years. Don't get me wrong, I do love the series, and I'll eat up whatever follow-up they shit out, because it's a fascinating series. I've been thinking about Paramount and I think it's funny. Funny and almost out of place. A gamble on the studio that earned them half a billion dollars in the box office, which back in the day was a ... Continue »

I was just thinking, if anybody here has video editing ability, ELO's Fire on High could make pretty interesting music to accompany the famous Night on Bald Mountain segment, from Fantasia. Actually, this is not really an original thought. Somebody left a comment under the YouTube video for Firee on High saying this: " In my imagination the โ€œgothicโ€ intro was like a misty eerie predawn fog and the instrumentals got โ€œsunnierโ€ and more epic as a new day just began. Like someone emerging... Continue »

I'm all caught up now.

MI1 - I remember a lot of hype for this when it came out. Not really worth that hype, but I guess it's not as boring as some other spy movies. At this point, Brian De Palma started to decline.

MI2 - I did watch it. I swear. But I wasn't paying attention because it was boring me and thus I forgot it entirely. Some motorcycle... some Metallica song...

MI3 - Finally, a more engaging entry. This is where JJ Abrams stepped in, and it starts out wi... Continue »
