I have seen thousands of people in movies catch on fire. But you know what I've never seen? One of these flaming motherfuckers stop, drop, and roll! Holy shit! This is basic stuff, people! I remember this information being pounded into my skull practically every day all throughout grade school. If you ever catch on fire, what do you do? STOP, DROP, AND FUCKING ROLL! They said it so much that I believed it was an inevitable part of life that I would one day catch on fire.

And here I am, totally prepared, but with nothing to show for it. But every single person I have ever seen catch on fire in a movie just runs around flailing their arms. WTF?! That's the LAST thing you're supposed to do! Sometimes they're even right next to a body of water! And do they ever jump in? FUCK NO! I can only figure fire safety is a completely unheard of concept in the movie world.

I'm sure when you're on fire, you won't be thinking clearly, but I hear ya. I've seen it plenty.

In Halloween 2, Michael is set ablaze and it seems like he's trying to ignore the flames in the hope that they'll go away. I always found it preposterous that he came back from that, but at the same time, I never asked questions.

There's a somewhat disturbing scene in the recent Firestarter where (SPOILERS) she sets her mom's arms on fire, and the mom is so shocked, she simply gawks at the fire. My reaction to that was that she should have tried to smother the flames on the couch or something. Or perhaps did that one thing, what with the stopping, the dropping, and the rolling...

I remember the public service commercials in-between Saturday morning cartoons explaining stop, drop and roll. They also use to explain if find yourself in a fire situation to get as close as you can to the floor and crawl to an exit cause most people die from smoke inhalation not the actual fire....do you usually see people in films do that?

The most ridiculous thing in school was the bomb drill. While the fire drill was proactive and could help save lives, the bomb drill was propaganda. The idea of hiding under your desk with your arms covering your head would somehow help you during a nuclear strike was asinine...Cold War baby shit.

Actually remember getting sent to the principals office in the 3rd grade cause I told my teacher "this is fn stupid." My principal told me "you're a smart kid now go back to class and stop causing trouble!"
