The title bugs me. The new one, I mean. I'm not sure what they should have called it but Halloween? That means there's three of them, although, this one isn't a remake. It's the new part 2, but fuck off, let's just call it Halloween, anyway. I feel like there needs to be something attached to the title to give it its own identity. Halloween II Part 2? Halloween H40? I think "The Last Halloween" has a nice ring to it, although I guess it's not going to be the last one after all cuz money. If I had my way, they would have just resurrected the series with a Halloween 9. I feel like they still could have made any movie they wanted and ignored any past sequel they wanted and still gotten away with calling it that.

Probably the most glaring problem I had with the movie. I don't know why they just couldn't be bothered to give it's own distinct title. Even if they had called it something like "Blumhouse's Halloween" I would've been fine with it.

All I can say is that it's better than the previous title "Halloween Returns". Back when those Saw guys were going to make an "interquel" / "recalibration" of the series, that was the title they dumped on us. Eww!

I really can't think of a better name for it. Numbered sequels are frowned upon these days, subtitles make it seem more derivative, yet release years are a good enough distinction for those of us who know anything baout movies.

As for the movie itself... I thought it was pretty damn cool. I'll have to watch it a few dozen more times to get a solid opinion though.

Halloween IS a better title than Halloween Returns and makes more sense, hence one title getting used twice and that one, currently never. But for a part 9 pretending to be a part 2 to lazily as fuck recycle this title for a second time, well, it just makes zero sense. It's not confusing in the sense that we can't figure out what movie we're watching. Just how the hell did they come to the conclusion that this was a good idea?

I'm sure it's good. I'll check it out when it comes out on the on demand.

In that case we could argue about many other titles too. Evil Dead II was actually Evil Dead repeat. There was a Scream movie before the popular franchise from Craven and there is possibly movies with Halloween in the title before Carpenter's.

There's a difference between someone coming along years later and recycling a (generic) title for their unrelated movie, and someone giving a "part 2" the identical title of the original. Remakes doing that makes sense cuz it's at least roughly the same story. There's a reason why sequels haven't done that until now. It's fucking dumb.

As usual with marketing misleading the (potential) viewers.
