The title bugs me. The new one, I mean. I'm not sure what they should have called it but Halloween? That means there's three of them, although, this one isn't a remake. It's the new part 2, but fuck off, let's just call it Halloween, anyway. I feel like there needs to be something attached to the title to give it its own identity. Halloween II Part 2? Halloween H40? I think "The Last Halloween" has a nice ring to it, although I guess it's not going to be the last one after all cuz money. If I had my way, they would have just resurrected the series with a Halloween 9. I feel like they still could have made any movie they wanted and ignored any past sequel they wanted and still gotten away with calling it that.

I think they stayed away from H40 because of H20 but The Last Halloween woulda been a lot better IMO. The only problem is if this film kills it at the Box office do you really believe they won't make another?

That's why I try not to take these franchises too seriously cuz that shit pisses me off. I mean, I get it. it's a business first and always has been, but the need to keep making money often gets in the way of the integrity of the franchise. Money is the only reason why this isn't Halloween 9 or a flat out remake or another Halloween II. Cuz someone decided everyone could milk the most out of this project if it erased 2-8 and stole the original's title. Whether they were right or wrong in doing this has yet to be seen.

As a fan I completely agree but we live in a capitalistic society. It's all about the money which is why I tend to stay watching Indys instead of Hollywood horror in the 2000 teens especially the past 3-5 years.I have more hope with a film made independently and then picked up at a film festival by a studio for distribution via limited release. How many more Insidious or Conjuring films they gonna make?

Funny, I just made this point on a YouTube review because it was bugging me too. As you say, it means it does not have it's own identity and it is supposed to be quite good, so it should have.

- "Do you like the movie Halloween?"
- "You mean the original?"
- "No, the sequel"
- "You mean Halloween 2?"
- "No it's just called Halloween!"
- "Ah you mean the Rob Zombie remake, it's not a sequel"
- "No I mean.."

Exactly! How is that conversation going to go any other way? There is literally nothing they could come up with to make sense out of this title. It's jusrt Halloween cuz... why not? The first one was called Halloween and it was financially successful, so, maybe if we call this one Halloween too, we'll make lots of money. Greed is overpowering creativity and passion to the point that people can't even be bothered to come up with a goddamn title anymore.

I'll probably go around calling it Halloween 2018.

Some dudes on youtube were jokingly calling it H20-20...

I'd go with that. LOL

It bugs me as well. I suspect it has to do with marketing and appealing to/deceiving people who've never seen the original. The Last Halloween would've worked fine, or even the title they were going to use for the direct sequel to the original part 2: Halloween Returns. Hollywood... emoticon

It's a stupid title. For people not familiar with the original, they don't want them to think this is a sequel. I guess they figure anybody who actually follows the series will know it's a sequel no matter what they call it.

But this is no dumber than the titles for the Rambo movies:
First Blood
Rambo: First Blood Part II
Rambo III
Rambo

The problem with H40 is that would imply that the movie is in the same universe as Halloween 2, H20, and Resurrection.

I wish I was in an alternate universe where Halloween Resurrection didn't exist. Worst Halloween film of all time IMO.

His acting skills in that film make Licking Lips Cool J's in H20 seem Oscar nom worthy.

What about a title of just Michael Myers?

or

New Halloween

Halloween: Resurgence

The Real Halloween 2

Halloween: The Final Chapter

Halloween 40 (Is there enough sequels that the less initiated might actually think there are 39 other movies?)
