I was waiting on Matheny to reclaim her place as host, but doesn't look like that's going to happen. So, here goes...

Welcome to the 2017 October Challenge. And for many of us, this is the first one away from the IMDb Horror board, which means it's no longer required to save your progress. So, fuck that no life having little cocksucker that used to make it necessary to delete the OP. Seriously. Kill yourself, whoever you were.

So, the rules, as I remember. To complete this challenge, one must watch at least 31 Horror films in the month of October. At least 16 of which shall be first time viewings. All are welcome to watch and list as many as possible.

No TV shows, no Documentaries. Horror films only.

If you're not positive as to whether or not a movie is of the Horror genre, just use your own judgement. If you feel like there's a little Horror in there, then it counts.

I'm gonna go with 45 minutes minimum for a movie to count.

Challenge begins when October begins, and ends with October ends.

No, wait! if I remember correctly, the challenge usually runs until 6 AM November 1st. So, for anyone wanting to have an all night Halloween marathon, there ya go!

If anyone has any questions or comments... https://trashepics.com/post/9/161/

Remember to list the number of movies/FTVs at the bottom, or it will not be counted in the results thread.

This is the year of trash. And this will no doubt prove to be the trashiest October Challenge of them all!

And this is where you make your spot. Have fun!

it's alright, better than expected. Some fun deaths and an absurd story, a good one with a few beers - gave it 3/5 here

hey ice, you like slow burn horror, have just watched A Dark Song (2016). Nice cinematography and sound, plus great performance from the two leads. think you may enjoy 6/10 for me

haha, with you on 'guest' n cgi ending, spoilt it a bit. oddly enough it reminded me of The Borderlands with the rural Britishness n isolation madness stuff going on.

you've piqued my curiosity by giving Sublime a nine. i blind bought it few years back and don't recall it being that great... but i don't remember much outside the setup n torture so may have been drunk. gonna watch it again.

Good to see some love for Berberian Sound Studio, think it's an excellent film. Toby Jones is great in everything and he really nails it in this. Seems obvious to say but the sound engineering is fantastic, creates really bizarre sense of constant tension.

awesome The Blob poster btw!

didn't even realise Houses Oct Built 2 was already out. what did you think? is it just the first one again? and most importantly is Porceline back?

I'd heard a little about the doc they made and the use of actual attraction footage, may invest in the blu ray myself. Shame 2 isnt as spooky, but then as you say the ambiguity of the ending of the first is (presumably) shattered with our gang being alive for this one. gonna watch it anyway and hope the filmmakers continue. They have promise and Houses 2014 shines in a FF market saturated with shitty lazy movies

I've def mentioned Tex Montana on here, in context with The Battery. Said it was on youtube and tho i do have a tendacy to be lenient with what i'd consider a horror, even i wouldn't class Tex as such. It is pretty funny and Gardener is a talent to watch. Think I heard he (they) crowdfunded the first two films, be nice to see what could be done on a bigger budget.

Tell your neice to watch Spring, Jezza G pops up as a barfly mate of the main guy, and it's quite a good horror romance with Lovecraftian elements

The Mind's Eye i watched for Turkey challenge last year, was ok if a mess, Larry Fessenden's always great, however fleeting. also has Noah segan who was in another film that year called 'Some Kind of Hate' which has a reform camp/cult commune called... The Mind's Eye!

btw i watched Houses Oct 2 and wa disappointed, had much more of a promotional commercial feel than the first, and as you pointed out, is not spooky at all. plus Porcalain isn't the same actress or mask. oh well
