Troma has done a nice job at living off the reputation it got from putting out movies like The Toxic Avenger, Redneck Zombies and Cannibal The Musical. Although, there are quite a few more great ones and definitely quite a few good ones, too, but considering how few and far between the good/great ones are in a sea of garbage, I'm not so sure Troma is qute as deserving of whatever reputation it may have left. Because, really, what have they done for us lately? Father's day? No. 2011 isn't lately. I'm not sure what's up with that Return To Nuke 'Em High Volume 2, and don't really care, to be hones. I'm sure I'll get a few laughs out of it, but I doubt it's going to be the next legendary Troma movie that will be spoken in the same breath as Combat Shock. But I'm not here to bash Troma, as I've accepted their hey day is over, and that there doesn't seem to be much motivation to improve things. But have you ever been watching some crazy B-movie and thought to yourself "This could totally be a Troma movie"? I have. Here's 12 that I feel would have been a perfect fit for Troma, and could have possibly gotten them a little more long lasting respect.

Blood On The Highway (2008)

Street Trash (1986)

Squirm (1976)

Premutos (1997)

Helen Keller Vs. Nightwolves (2015)

Dear God No! (2011)

Lake Nowhere (2014)

Teenage Slumber Party Nightmare (2014)

Hobo With A Shotgun (2011)

Special Dead (2006)

Birdemic: Shock And Terror (2010) https://trashepics.com/post/9/73/

I've seen a lot of Troma movies, which goes without saying that I've seen a lot of shit. But aside from that, I've also seen a lot of Troma movies that should not be Troma movies at all. Some are just so abysmal and boring, that they do this company no favors, and mostly just make it seem like the company that'll take ANY movie. "If all else fails, there's always Troma", some wannabe Horror directors probably say, nowadays. That's sad. Troma should have taken a little more pride in itself over the years. Also, some of these films are simply not a good fit, and would seem more at home in the Something Weird catalogue. I don't know what happened there, but there's about as many black sheep as there is unwatchable garbage.

Pigs (1972)

youtube

Deadly Daphne's Revenge (1987)

youtube

Scream Baby Scream (1968) https://trashepics.com/post/9/21/

youtube

Teenape Vs. The Monster Nazi Apocalypse (2012) https://trashepics.com/post/9/9/

youtube

Sugar Cookies (1973)

youtube

Space Zombie Bingo!! (1993)

youtube

Fatty Drives The Bus (1997)

youtube

Cry Uncle (1971)

youtube

Curse Of The Cannibal Confederates (1982)

youtube

Dark Nature (2009)

youtube

Demented Death Farm Massacre (1971) https://trashepics.com/post/9/20/

Croaked: Frog Monster From Hell (1981)

Any more suggestions on either end?

Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers is kind of Troma-ish. Maybe I'm just talking outta my ass. Like usual.

Awesome thread! I'll have to think about what movies should've been Troma movies. There's a few Full Moon movies that would fit right in. I've always thought it was weird that Rabid Grannies and The Children were part of Troma.

One of my exes was mad into Troma, though not as much as you. He wrote, directed, did visual effects for, and composed music for Rock 'n' Roll Space Patrol Action Is Go! I don't think it's a stand out in the Tromalogue, but i would endorse replacement with Pigs. That one was great. emoticon

I've never seen any of the Evil Bong movies, but they sound more like Troma than Full Moon.

I was pretty fond of Pigs, I thought it was a sympathetic and interesting entry in the backwoods brutality/psychtronic proto slasher subgenres. Croaked was fun too, but then I'm generally into Bill Rebane's style. Recent one that seemed a tad Troma-esque was The Demon's Rook. Throwback splatter, think all practical effects and plenty of them almost throughout. Also Bad Blood : The Movie, about a teenage girl who becomes a werefrog. Quirky 80's horror comedy throwback with a wicked old school rubber suit monster.

I'm sure you already know this, but some of the films on the list were distributed by them And Cry Uncle is sorta Troma-inhouse as Lloyd himself was involved in the making.

Good call though on Street Trash, that feels very Troma. Will check out the others on your list I haven't heard of! emoticon

I get the connection, but Cry Uncle is just a very random movie for Troma to be putting out. It wasn't bad, though, although, I prefer Sugar Cookies.

Definitely. That, Street Trash and Brain Damage are the best examples of 80's non-Troma.

Night of Something Strange could have been a Troma movie. Also maybe Bread and Circus.

I haven't heard of that. Looks pretty good, and has Billy Garberina in it. Definitely Troma material.

Have you seen either of those 2 movies from director Marc Fratto called Zombies Annonymous and Strange Things Happen At Sundown? I think they're pretty good. Not too popular, but miles ahead of some of the stuff Troma puts out. Those would be a pretty good fit too.

I saw Strange Things Happen at Sundown on some boxset of 50 movies that I don't have anymore and can't remember what it was called. Most of the movies were almost unwatchable, but that one was actually really good.

It might be this one.

https://www.amazon.com/Tomb-Terrors-50-Movie-Pack/dp/B000SBAVNM/ref=sr_1_3?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1490465729&sr=1-3&keywords=pendulum+pictures+50

Yeah. I was surprised to see it on there, cuz it's obviously 2 steps above everything else. I actually like those Pendulum 50 packs, Not so much the newer stuff on there, but there's some interesting S.O.V.s from the 90' too, although, few and far between.

That's the one. I bought it for Sorority Babes in the Dance-a-thon of Death. It was pretty awful.

Not even worthy of being an unofficial sequel to a movie that's not even that great.

Dead & Breakfast (2004) and Dead Before Dawn (2012) maybe. Ironically, the movie that ]would feel most at home at Team Troma, Idle Hands (1999), has no nudity at all. If only Jessica Alba and some other chicks had shown their tits and an ass shot or two! emoticon

Zombie Women of Satan (2009). Couldn't remember the title as I only saw 10 or 15 minutes of it on tv awhile back. But I did remember it involved zombies and skinny bitches with fake boobs, and most of all the scene of a midget taking a huge shit under a tree. Seriously, the pile of shit is as tall as his waist.

Half hour of reading up and convinced it wasn't Zombie Strippers or Zombies Zombies Zombies, I did a video search for midget pooping under a tree. aka-dwarf craps in woods. Bingo!
