Tobe Hooper was kind of hit or miss, but when he hit, he hit hard. Everyone will remember him for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and that ought to be good enough, but he gave us a few other solid horror classics, too.

Eaten Alive, The Funhouse, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 are all great movies. Poltergeist, I didn't care for, but to my understanding, that was mostly Spielberg anyway.

Like many greats, he fizzled out toward the end, but he certainly left his mark early on in his career.
