Freddy Kruger's last stand vs. the same of Michael Myers.
By now, I'm fully aware that most people don't respect the final Halloween entry.

But don't you people at least appreciate it more than the New Nightmare?

Both films are about an unstoppable killer getting mass publicity
(there's the connection you people were seeking).
The difference is that (with the exception of Busta Rhymes), Resurrection has the decency to take itself seriously.

In New Nightmare, you basically have a film parodying it's killer
(in the sense that Krueger is getting stronger with each and every film).
Freddy fared better when he was simply relying on dreams.
Also, this "film within a film" approach worked much better in Scream, in my horror opinion.

Halloween Resurrection is tough to beat: You have horny teens, suspense, and Busta Rhymes "busting up" some people.

New Nightmare: 4/10
Halloween Resurrection: 7.5/10

Even though it has to be viewed as its own movie away from the rest of the series, I prefer New Nightmare. It was a different idea for a series that had run its course, much like Jason Goes to Hell was for the Friday the 13th franchise. I guess those types of sequels will always divide fans. Fans who are bored with the same old thing and fans who may or may not be bored but never wanted that much of a change.

Busta Rhymes will never be a selling point for me on a movie. He's not Halloween: Resurrection's only problem, but he's a big one. I believe the other big problem (besides the Akkads) is Rick Rosenthal. After listening to his commentary on Halloween II, I felt like he didn't give a shit about that movie and it makes me wonder if he just did Resurrection for the money. Never listened to his commentary on Resurrection though, maybe he's more enthusiastic there.

I will admit, one part I do enjoy about Resurrection is the opening with Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie one final time. Fun little moment.
