Fortress and Cat O' Nine Tails.

When I first saw Fortress,
I was expecting something grittier and tougher, ala ''The Escape From NY of the 90's''.
But I've learned to appreciate it, and I currently have it ranked #5 on my all-time list.
It has such a polished look to it, Lambert's character is infinitely unselfish, and the scenes with his wife are simply memorable.
7/10

I think Nine Tails highly raised my expectation with it's title alone, especially since it's a 70's release.
The picture/dubbing are bland and, like most giallos, is deliberately-paced.
But I've developed an appreciation for it over the years, as it has it's moments,
the performances are satisfactory, and the blonde has a good-sized tank for a skinny dame.
6/10 upon multiple views

I would stay away from sequels (this was back in the 90s vhs days) I didn't like Return of the Living Dead II compared to RotLd and the Howling sequels were abysmal. However there are good sequels that I learned to appreciate.

I didn't see Exorcist III until a few years ago and it is fantastic. I was a late bloomer on Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, Scanners 2

There are other movies like this where I was like "Nah" and later I was like "Yeah" I can't think of them now.

Not a single film specifically, but the whole formulaic teen slasher sub-genre is one I had to learn to like. The main reason I previously disliked it though was because I had only seen a chunk of the mainstream, franchise films of the 80s. Once I started going deeper and seeing some of the more onscure (or even not obscure ike Just Before Dawn) I came to appreciate the sub-genre more.

Back to the Future

Used to think it was stupid & overrated with too many plotholes. Mainly what happened to the dog (think it was called Frankenstein) & why didn't Marty's mum recognise him once he grew up.

Saw it again few years back n realise it's a funny family flick & I shouldn't take things so seriously. Great Scott!

I hated Halloween III, Alien Resurrection, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Mainly because they were sequals that were completely different from previous movies. Alien R and TCM2 were pretty comical. Halloween 3 of course not only didn't feature Michael Myers at all, but had this wild plot about a rich warlock using androids and masks made of microchips and pieces of stonehenge and magic to mass murder children for reasons that never seemed clear to me.

TCM2 I actually think is a pretty good movie, and the other two are often entertainingly weird.

First time I ever saw Liquid Sky I had just undergone surgery, was feeling like shite and couldn't get into it at all. Next time I saw it was under far better circumstances and I mostly loved it, nowadays its an all time favourite. Sub cultural cinema essential. An acquired taste though, with its indulgent length, spotty plotting and almost entirely off the wall or unlikeable characters.

Halloween (1978). I watched it as a kid, and never really had fond memories of it. Always considered it one of the most overrated Horror movies ever made. A few years ago, I refreshed my memory one night during an October Challenge, and was pretty much blown away. Halloween deserves it's status.

Halloween wasn't the first slasher, but it was probably the most influential. It sort of established a formula that so many others would later follow.
