So I just watched Jaws, and I didn't particularly like it. The story developed rather slowly and I didn't find myself liking to many of the characters. It wasn't bad, but I really think the movie could have been told in 85 minutes, and may have benifitted from it. The long, silence filled scenes on the water were meant to create this feeling of overwhelming nothingness and being at the mearcing of the ocean, but for me it just kinda put me to sleep.
With that said, it's well made. Roy Sheider is great, Richard Dreyfuss was on a role back then, and Robert Shaw was gnarly as Quint. It ain't scary, but I still think it's a solid movie. Part 2 is pretty good too, since it still has Scheider, and part 3(D) is a step down, but it's got the Dennis Quaid in it. Now once you get to part 4, you start to feel pretty weird about the series. It's so bad, it's kind of good.
Also, don't forget that Mallrats named it's two main characters after these guys, Brody and Quint.
