I feel like this one has always been a little underrated. I like the perverted religious theme of this movie. The cornfield adds atmosphere. There is also the battle for power between Issac and Malachi that is very interesting. Linda Hamilton shines in this one too.

This movie isn't great, but at the same time, I feel that it has had a somewhat substantial impact on the horror genre. In retrospect, this movie is definitely the best of the entire series, because as you must know, there are too many of these movies. Not sure why this movie was thought of as franchise material, but it ended up that way, and while most of the sequels are turds, the original is still a somewhat decent movie.

I can agree that the cornfields add a great atmosphere to the movie. I feel that King revisited this theme, and even has a new movie out called "In the Tall Grass" which has a similar setting. Haven't seen it yet, but I plan to. I love a good rural horror setting, and this one has just that. Crazy to think that Linda Hamilton made this the same year that she did Terminator.

I'm happy to say that I met Courtney Gains, who played Malachai. Though, being a man of trash, I talked to him about Poolboy rather than this movie, because Poolboy is an epic piece of shit. I love it with a vengeance.

So yeah... the original CotC is a decent flick. It's a shame that the sequels are so lackluster.
