Unless anyone has better ideas. I donโ€™t. If you do, please post them here.

1) Still use IMDb ratings.

1.0 = 6 points.
1.1-1.9 = 5 points.
2.0-2.9 = 4 points.
3.0-3.9 = 3 points.
4.0-4.4 = 2 points.
4.5-4.9 = 1 point.

2) First time view = 1 point.

3) Horror at least 33% of total. removed

4) Trifectas. Yes. Director and series. For director you can bunch siblings and parent / children or grandparent / grandchildren.

At least one movie in each trifecta must be horror. removed

A movie can only count towards one trifecta.

Single Trifecta - 5 points

Double Trifecta - 7 points

Triple Trifecta - 9 points

Etc.

5) New - 2 bonus points for Thanksgiving theme, turkeys, Pilgrim hat, or Pilgrims in movie. Only one 2 point bonus per movie.

6) Movies with 5.0 ratings or better donโ€™t count for any points.

7) Must be at least 45 minutes long.

His early stuff still has lots of 2. and 3. imdb ratings. I'll have to see if I can find some. I know the name but think I've only seen Dorm of the Dead by him. I enjoyed it enough that I remember looking for more titles that year I watched it and coming up empty.

It's amazing how much some turkeys have gone up since we first discovered them. there are hardly any 1.0's left!

if the movie is in the TE database you can see updated imdb score without having to give them traffic

I like where your head is at, but unfortunately... the ratings API still grabs info from their site, which is pretty much the same as giving them traffic. I think?

oh well. i have no idea how it works. at least it helps to encourage more members to vote here, get both the imdb and TE ratings on the same page. i think the more we get used to everyone's tastes here, the better it makes the rating as a guide. compared to imdb where the majority are strangers who could have bias, or the filmmakers have bought votes i hate when they do that

Horror at least 33% of total.

I'm all for holding up traditions, but any chance we can forget about this rule? I'm sure most of us will end up watching mostly Horror, anyway, but since this isn't really a Horror site, was wondering if we could just watch whatever as long as it's 4.9 or lower.

I am not opposed to this. I prefer to avoid changes the rules after the challenge starts though. If no one objects in the next 48 hours, then I will take away the horror requirement.
