I've only seen Brain Dead (1990), Fermat's Room, and Patrick Still Lives.

Brain Dead has a lot of surreal moments and I liked it enough at the time to buy it after I watched it. I remember less about the other two. I liked Fermat's Room and thought Patrick Still Lives wasn't great, yet better than Patrick. I've never forgotten a certain fire poker scene in Patrick Still Lives.

I've wanted to see Effects for a while. I was going to ask you if you had a link for it, but it's on YouTube now apparently.

I am really curious about Fermat's Room. I bought it for like three dollars a short time ago. Even thou I haven't seen it yet - I keep thinking it is something along the lines of Cube (1997) meets Pi (1998). Would that be fair?

Yeah, I see that Effects is on YT. I may get around to watching it before it is taken down.

There are some Cube vibes. Some Saw too. It's not gory like Saw, but the basic plot is similar.

ha just noticed after taking that photo the quote on the cover of my DVD reads "Pi meets Cube with a dash of Saw"! i disagre, but can see where the comparison comes from.

The mathematics in Fermat's are basically primary level trick questions, not Pi bigbrain shit or savant level multiplication like Cube. The set up is a bit Saw granted (aside from the fact these 'victims' go willingly not abducted), but i think even putting that comparison on the poster is a small spoiler.

i enjoyed fermats, if it is a little bit predictable, it's a fun trip getting there.

I've seen Hell's Ground, The Last Wave, What the Peeper Saw, The Strange Vengeance of Rosalie and Frankenstein: The True Story.

Hell's Ground is a Middle Eastern (Pakistani I think) film that combines elements of Friday the 13th and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It's in Farsi with English subtitles and kind of slow-going. I watched it hoping to see a lot of hot Indian women, but it didn't deliver as bigly in that department as I hoped. It was interesting that a slasher film would be made in that area of the world though, where one would imagine that the laws of Islam would condemn horror movies. I thought it was an honest effort by people who obviously love these kinds of movies.

The Last Wave I saw so long ago I can't remember a lot about it. It dealt with Australian natives and some of their traditional beliefs. It's widely considered to be a good movie. I'd be willing to see it again.

What the Peeper Saw has Britt Ekland as a nanny to a young boy who may have killed his mother. Plenty of Britt looking hot, nice locations, and the kid (played by Mark Lester)is creepy. Not a lot of blood or action though.

The Strange Vengeance of Rosalie is a unique movie that I'd like to see get a decent release. It leaves a lot to the viewers' imagination which makes it all the more creepy. Bonnie Bedelia plays a sinister little girl, and everything that happens may or may not be due to the fact that a nuclear bomb test site is nearby. The other two stars, Ken Howard and Anthony Zerbe, are also very good. If I remember correctly this one came highly recommended by Shaza from the old board.

Frankenstein: The True Story is one I highly recommend to anyone interested in Frankenstein movies. Of all the ones I've seen it follows the original story the closest. It's long, but Mary Shelley's original book was very long also. It has a great cast including James Mason, David McCallum, Agnes Moorehead, and Jane Seymour. Michael Sarrazin is especially good as the monster, but it's important to note that he plays it nothing like Karloff or most of the other people who have played the role. The emphasis is more on the development of characters and themes than on horror. Also worth noting is the fact that, like the original story, solar energy and storage batteries are used to bring the creature to life rather than static electricity. You won't see any Tesla coils, Van de Graaffs or Wimshurst generators making big sparks in this movie.

Not much I have seen from that list. I'm interested in 'I am a Ghost' myself. I had to check if I had seen Ringu (1995) but it's the 1998 version I have seen, 1995 is apparently the first version but a little known TV version. the Brain Dead movies no I have only seen the one from Peter Jackson.

Resurrection (1999) I have seen for sure. I did see it in theater back in the days. It was a lot like Seven, if you like that one you like Resurrection I guess. I liked it at the time dunno about now.

The Ogre is also known as Demons 3 even though it doesn't have anything to do with Lamberto's previous Demon movies. I think it wasn't too bad for the low budget, a few nice nightmarish scenes.

The Visitor (1979) is also on my watchlist curious about that one.

I actually watched 'I am a Ghost' today. While I liked it, I am not terribly sure if you will. It reminds me of The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh (2012) meets David Lynch.

I think I seen all those Demon movies or movies under the Demon name, except for The Ogre. I generally enjoy them.

I was actually recommended Resurrection (1999) by someone who thought I would like it. It should be interesting.

Oh Rosalind Leigh is still good for putting me to sleep. But ok whenever I see a slow, vague, uneventful movie I guess I can recommend it to you emoticon

I don't really remember Aswang, but I gave it a 6/10. Both Brain Deads are decent, 1990 is a real head trip, 2007 is pretty silly, but it has good gore and nudity. Retribution is awesome, speaking of which, it's really due for a rewatch. If The Ogre you're speaking of is the one also known as Demons III, it's okay. I didn't think it was nearly as bad as most people seem to, just remember it's not really a Demons sequel and is nothing at all like those movies. The Visitor is ridiculous, but I think you'd probably like it. Turkey Shoot is not a horror movie, it's a most dangerous game type action movie, and I thought it was pretty dull.

Aswang has always been on the top of my list to watch since I have started to watch these more obscure movies. Same with Retribution. Yeah, The Visitor seems like a real oddity, but I have always enjoyed those sorts of movies. Maybe, I am just odd!

I have seen a bunch. The Visitor is bonkers but i love it. Patrick Still Lives is great sleaze. Turkey Shoot is super cheesy fun. People Who own the Dark is an underrated little gem. As is Aswang and Retribution. Ringu is top tier and much prefer it to the American remake. Last Wave is excellent. Some other solis ones in there to.
