TV movies nowadays rightly get a bad rap with poor writing, low production values, and intrusive commercial breaks.. However, back in the 1970s, made-for-TV horror movies were a genre unto themselves. Many of those TV movies are still highly watchable, memorable, and have even enjoyed big budget remakes. I seen a lot of good TV horror movies over the past couple of years so here is what I really liked:

The Woman in Black 1989
Salem's Lot 1979
Count Dracula 1977
House Of Lost Souls 1989
No Place to Hide 1981
Desire: The Vampire 1982
When Michael Calls 1972

There were a lot of good TV horror movies. More that I liked than not. Some of the ones I really liked at the time and still hold up well now:

Duel
Salem's Lot
The Bermuda Depths
Don't Go to Sleep
Dark Night of the Scarecrow
The Dain Curse (though the third installment is a little slow-going)
The Savage Bees
Mary Jane Harper Cried Last Night
Summer of Fear
When Michael Calls
A Howling in the Woods
Bump in the Night
Bad Ronald
Curse of the Black Widow

I'd love to see cleaned up blu-rays of all of these. I think Salem's Lot of the only one that got a blu-ray release. Many are not even on DVD and a few not even on VHS.

Curse of the Black Widow isn't quite as brilliant a movie as the others, but I always include it because it's the movie that got me really interested in horror. It has a good cast (Donna Mills, Tony Franciosa, Patty Duke, Sid Caeser, Vic Morrow, Roz Kelly, June Allyson, and June Lockhart) and good locations, including the same house that was in Tarantulas: The Deadly Cargo, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark and several other TV movies and episodes. Dan Curtis's daughter has a cameo as a gymnastics student. It plays like an episode of Kolchak: The Night Stalker, and I always liked that series.

I agree, Don't Go to Sleep is pretty high on the list.
