Okay, I have pretty much seen everything from this decade over this past year. So after a lot of thinking this is my ultimate list for the 2010's. There is a lot of movies that could make my list but this is it:

Mother! (2017)
The Love Witch (2016)
Hereditary (2018)
Spring (2014)
Trollhunter (2010)
The Void (2016)
The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)
A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014)
World War Z (2013)
What We Do in the Shadows (2014)

What makes your Top 10?

I was one of those who hated mother with a passion. I fuckin' loved Hereditary though. One hell of a good horror movie right there. Spring is also really damn good, and Jane Doe was pretty solid as well. Not crazy about The Void though.

Been hearing about the others for so many years now, that I ought to watch them already. I saw an episode or two of the "What We Do" tv show with Matt Berry, and it was pretty good for what I saw. But I laugh at Matt Berry no matter what he says or does.

My Top would be something like:

Hereditary (2018)
Bone Tomahawk (2015)
Megan is Missing (2011)
I Spit on Your Grave (2010)
Halloween (2018)
It Follows (2014)
Would You Rather (2012)
Terrifier (2016)
The Babadook (2014)
I Saw the Devil (2010)

It Follows was very close to making it for me. It has a nice foreboding tone kinda reminiscent of Final Destination in that respect.

Love both of those, and she also plays a great crazy person in Scorned (2013).

Couldn't get into Absentia. Thought it would be my kind of movie. Just had a student film vibe...

Don't think I've seen any of the others. Looks like I've got some catching up to do as far as recent horror.

Absentia was the director Mike Flanagan's debut feature film and he made it for something like $60,000 in 2011, which I would consider quite the achievement. He would go on to make Oculus, Ouija:Origins and Gerald's Game. I got strange taste, a lot of the films on my list probably wouldn't make others top 50. I liked Absentia for its Lovecraftian elements mainly.

Something like...

Mandy
Hereditary
Midsommar
Us
The Woman
The Wailing
Train To Busan
The Babadook
It Follows

I feel like there should be a reasonably clear one to make ten but I've either forgotten or just plain not seen enough. Actually, heck it, I'll go with...

Replace

Strong, impressive list.

I am waithing to see Midsommar - not shown at my local cinema, so I will wait for the DVD release.

At first I had certain quibbles it, but after letting it sit awhile I think it really could be a modern classic. Also, quite apart from anything else it has one of the coolest bits of camera-work I've seen in any film in absolutely ages...

Are you talking about the shroom sequence? Because that was bad-ass!

The driving tracking swoop and flip shot. I love driving sequences anyway but that swoop and flip and carry on under the sign reminded me why I first got into really paying attention to camera work in horror movies. Gave me, like, Texas Chainsaw Massacre kind of joy, though in a much more polished way of course.

The shroom sequence was really cool too. I've never partaken myself, I suspect they might not be good for me, but I'm told that it's a pretty accurate representation. I could certainly relate to getting weirded out by the light conditions anyhow.
