I will be berating myself for including Halloween 3 instead of Halloween for a few days, I think. I love both movies, of course. But, I have been following an account on Twitter that is under the name Dr. Dan Challis for a year or so now, and it always cracks me up. Whoever is doing the account is hilarious, he just plays the part of an alcoholic skirt-chasing middle aged doctor to perfection. Anyway, it keeps making me think of Halloween 3, which I always liked a lot anyway. Thence, its inclusion on my amazing list.

If you do Twitter, you should search for characters from John Carpenter movies. There are a bunch of people who have set up joke accounts under the names of various characters, and they post regularly. Sometimes characters from different movies interact with each other, tweeting back and forth... it's pretty funny. They mostly do John Carpenter movies from the 80s, but not always. I have seen tweets from Jaws characters, so, they're out there too.

While I wouldn't personally put Halloween 3 in my top 10, I still love it and find it massively underrated so don't berate yourself too hard Tommix. It's a DVD I find myself pulling out every October.

Dude, wow. FOUR selections from the 40s. Verrrrrry.... innnnnterrrresting...... The 40s and the 90s usually came up basically tied for last place, in our polls of ranking decades of horror. But, I can see you're not just trying to be funny or controversial. Verrry innteresting indeed.

30s, 40s, and 60s are pretty much even to me. I donโ€™t understand why people think that the 40s had a lower output of horror than the 30s. It was actually an increase.

50s and 00s are close to even.

70s and 80s make the next tranche.

20s are interesting but very little output.

90s and 10s are bad for the most part. I am not into home invasion or found footage.

Yeah, the '40s were pretty awesome for horror. I prefer the '40s and '20s to the '30s, though there's great stuff there too.

I suck at whittling down my favorites, but I'll give it a go. In no particular order:

The Shining (1980)
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
The Devil's Rejects (2005)
Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Hellraiser (1987)
Return of the Living Dead (1985)
A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)
Event Horizon (1997)
The Fly (1986)
Martin (1977)

Well some claim every horror movie with a female protagonist, a little girl or a majority of female cast members is a winner for me. I can live with that.

Out of curiosity, would there be anything to make your top 10 not including any of those?
