Been a while since I saw this one so I figured it was time for a revisit.

I liked it. While i prefer the horror comedy tone of the first two films, this was pretty good, gory, dark stuff. I got kind of a Hellraiser vibe from it too with the BDSM fetish thing the chick did in order to suppress her undead hunger. As I said it's gory, and this had to have been the uncut version cuz some of this was downright brutal as fuck. The zombies this time around, particularly the ones that come outta the steel barrels, are truly a hideous sight. Some fantastic old school make up and latex work.

Parts of it had this sort of cringey "My So Called Life" type feel with the Romeo + Juliet plotline but overall, not too shabby.

I'm familiar with Etchison's Halloween 2 and 3 novelizations. They're really good. Didn't know he had any short stories out there. From how you've described them, I'm interested in reading them. Urban horror appeals to me greatly.

RotLD 3 is a refreshing change of pace after the first two films. Don't get me wrong. I love the first, it's one of my favorite horror films, and the second is mostly good. We didn't need more of the same again though.

My favorite of the barrel zombies is the one who's so deformed, his attempts to move end up ripping half his face off of his skull. As you said, hideous.
