There was a poster on the old board who had a thread like this at the end of each week. She must not be here but it seems like somebody should be doing that here. Since no one is, I thought I'd do it.

I haven't had much time for movies lately but I just recently bought Murder Set Pieces and The Red Queen Kills Seven Times.

Watched:

Hell of the Living Dead (1980)
Nightmare City (1980)
The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue (1974)
Would You Rather (2012)

Would You Rather was the only FTV. Jeffrey Combs was the best part. Also was surprised to see John Heard in it. Only a small role unfortunately.

Bought:

Nothing. Been highly tempted to buy the Planet of the Apes Blu-ray set though. $26 for the five originals on Amazon.

In retrospect, I've grown to like Would You Rather quite a bit. The cast is great. I loved seeing Robb Wells of Trailer Park Boys fame in there. He's the real reason I watched it! I wanted to see if he could play a character other than Ricky. The answer is no. emoticon

I liked those Ape movies so much, even I've considered buying those sets, even though I haven't bough a movie in years.

You recommended it to me months ago, so that was the reason I watched. Didn't realize that was the same guy, but I know who you mean now. I liked it overall. Had some Saw vibes, but not too many. Ending was rather sad.

Good idea Yakko!

That was Matheny, a nice lady, dunno why she doesn't post any more. I believe Hey Sweden did the thread "have you watched". Both are registered here but no input from them.
I liked the Red Queen, a surprisingly good giallo.

Maniac Cop (1988)
House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
The Touch of Her Flesh (1967)
Warlock (1989)
Heat of Madness (1966)
Predator (1987)
The Curse of Her Flesh (1968)
Jack Frost (1997)
The Kiss of Her Flesh (1968)
The Psycho Lover (1970)
Wolf Creek (2005)
Dead Snow (2009)
The Dark Knight (2008)
Spider Baby (1967) RW

If it's not too much trouble it would have been great if you could include some ratings with the movies you list.

i do conciously leave them out of posts, prefer to say a brief 'liked/didnt/descrip', but since i rate on imdb and here i should stop being a hypocrite. since these are top of my 'recently rated list' on imdb shouldn't be too much bother to check what score i gave em n edit my post. should be there in a few mins...

Glad you are starting this up, Yakko.

I bought a few DVDs lately after a long dry spell. Here's what I remember:

Night of the Bloody Apes / La Horripilante Bestia Humana DVD - includes both the english language and original Spanish edits.
Carnival Magic BLU/DVD combo - was planning to rewatch this for the apes challenge
Great BLU boxset of five Paul Naschy films - haven't watched any of these yet - maybe in October if i can waiti that long.
Jaws 2/3/4 set
Animated Star Trek series

I know there were some more but I don't remember them. Maybe I'll post those next week.

This is a great idea, Yakko. All power to you as our weekly host...Matheny used to host this one and she disappeared. I always liked these weekly threads back on the old board.

Unfortunately, my week was pitiful for movie watching.

watched:
Kong: King of Atlantis (2005)- 3/10
The Love Witch (2016)- 5/10

bought:
Psych-Out 1968- blu ray

I just hope I can get to it each week like she did. I've really been busy lately. That was one thread I always check out each week. It was a good way to find out about releases and about movies I'd never heard of.

Hopefully Matheny will return someday.

I know I used to complain a lot and annoy people a lot but the horror board was really a pretty cool place.

No sweat, Yakko. We all bitch and moan sometimes... and I agree. IMDB and those weekly threads were a great resource.

Just ordered The Wask Mask (1997) recent Blu-ray. It was produced by Dario Argento and directed by Sergio Stivaletti who did the special effects for a few Argento movies. It was originally supposed to be directed by Lucio Fulci, but he unfortunately passed away in 1996. I've never seen it, but I've wanted to for many years.

Finally! :)

Weird Science (1985) - I enjoyed it very much! Really fun movie.

Dunkirk (2017) - It's well done made, has nice look, but I found it just an okay film. But it is not showing much drama. Since it's a Nolan film, I didn't really expect anything about this movie. However, Hacksaw Ridge is way much emotional and better film, in my opinion.

Amityville: The Awakening (2017) - My waiting time is over. I finally saw it! I absolutely loved it.

What's it about? In 1974, 'he' murdered his entire family as they slept in a haunted house, in Amityville, but 40 years later, a single mother that moves her three children into that the same house.

This movie is terrific, crazy and scary with some creepy moments. But yet, it's a lot of fun to watch. It has great jump scares! I found the twists crazy.

One thing in this movie made me surprise is that they showed the actual Amityville DVDs (the original, Amityville II: The Possession and the remake) and I loved how they showed it in this Amityville movie lol. They said new versions are boring, so they picked the original to watch and some of the characters watched it on TV. 😂

Let's talk about the characters: Bella Thorne gave a likable character, good acting and she showed her emotional moments. She wasn't dumb, neither annoying. She seemed awesome when she was fighting with the demon in the last scene.

Jennifer Jason Leigh gives a creepy performance. She played really crazy mother who already knew about the 'Amityville Horror' murders and she thought everything would be better in a possessed house in Amityville, but she was also good. She did a good job.

Cameron Monaghan was really creepy as looking. He was easily the best and creepiest part of the movie.

It's not for everyone, but if you waited to see it in a long time, you should to see it if you want. Since you need a time for this movie to release.

Weird Science is an 80s classic. I watched it multiple times when I was in college and I know it's technically not all that good but Kelly LeBrock more than makes up for it.

It's been so long since I've seen any of the Amityville sequels that I really can't remember much. I know I always thought the original was the best.
