There was a poster on the old board who had a thread like this at the end of each week. She must not be here but it seems like somebody should be doing that here. Since no one is, I thought I'd do it.

I haven't had much time for movies lately but I just recently bought Murder Set Pieces and The Red Queen Kills Seven Times.

Just curious Gym, how much do you spend on movies monthly (average). I also bought Lantana a couple of months back, based on the reviews, haven't watched it yet. Black Sheep is a cool horror/comedy flick from New Zealand, gore effects were decent enough to be enjoyable but i wasn't having much fun with the comedic aspect.

I roughly spend around 25 Euro which is like 30 US Dollar monthly. Where I live they have this store (CEX) where they sell second-hand DVDs for like a Dollar and under. They are dirt cheap to buy. I haven't seen them yet, but I couldn't refuse because they were like 25 cents each. emoticon

CEX rules, i dont frequent as much these days coz i tend to dload everything, but you do get occasional gems for cheap in there. i got 'Bay of Blood' for 50p coupla year back & 'Irreversible' for ÂŖ3 even longer ago, when that was decent price for foreign dvd.

the store nearest me also dabbled in 2nd hand CDs and books which didnt take off, but they ended up selling all the stock for 5 or 10p and i bought loads i'll never read or listen to!

I think the staff in their know me by first name basis! It really does rule. Those CEX strores are becoming very popular. I buy lots of DVDs that are like 25 to 50p, movies that I have never heard of, just 'cause they are like 25p!

I remember I got the Cube trilogy for like 4 Euro a year ago, and I had never seen them before. So that was a great blind buy for me.

Jeses Christ! 5 or 10p for books and CDs!? I would have done the exact same thing in your position.

I was surprised to see Lantana on there. It's relatively obscure. It's OK, but I much prefer Ray Lawrence's 1985 film, Bliss. I was shocked when Lantana came out - 16 years after the director's first film. Talk about a sophomore slump!

I own Daybreakers, Cat O' Nine Tails and Zombi Holocaust - all worth having.

I envy you Black sheep and The Crazies - wouldn't mind having those.

I am kinda binge watching Dragon Ball as of lately (nostalgia), so no time for movies. On top of that i am subconsciously saving horror movies for October.

Just curious about Murder Set Pieces, how much did you pay for it and if you made sure you bought the uncut version. I own and watched that one (the uncut version) and i honestly didn't like it at all, the gore effects were laughable at best.

agreed, MSP is boring, nasty waste of time. overhyped for some reason, even the 'set piece' deaths arent great. dont get me wrong, i enjoy a sleazy killer as much as the next, but this film just didnt work for me

I found it at the local Good Will and pretty sure it's the cut version. I know several people on the old horror board hated this movie but I figured this would be a cheap way to see it and not be out much if I end up hating it. I haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

I did watch Red Queen last night and it's a pretty decent Euro-horror.

Great idea. You should definitely make this a weekly thing. And combining the two threads is probably best.

I bought an annoying Ron Bonk movie called She Kills (2016)

Watched

Delirium (1972) - FTV - 6/10
The Room (2003) - FTV - 7/10
Trashcans Of Terror (1985) - Rewatch - 3/10
She Kills (2016) - FTV - 3/10
Demon Queen (1986) - Rewatch - 3/10
Mr. No Legs (2979) - FTV - 5/10
The Strange Monster of Strawberry Cove (1971) - FTV - 5/10
Donkey Punch (2008) - FTV - 6/10

Good buy. What is your favorite Joe D'Amato flick?

That one. D'Amato hasn't made many genuinely good movies, but that one is definitely genuinely good.

I'm not a big fan of D'Amato, but besides BTD I also like Emanuelle in America, Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals, Anthropophagus and Absurd.

I have only seen a handful of his movies, just the more popular of his like Emanuelle in America, Anthropophagus, Absurd and Beyond the Darkness (1979). I liked Images in a Convent - that one was pretty hot. I think I have seen his best so that is me finished with his movies for now.
