I think that's the great thing about Audition - the fact it's half rom-com, and this is why I think it has it's fair share of detractors who are often bored by it. And then you have those at the opposite end that criticise it as nothing but "torture porn". Anyway, as soon as you get to that scene with her waiting by the telephone, with the sack in the background..

I think it's occasional slow pace is part of it's effectiveness.
