You can't really go wrong with any of their first 7 albums.
I'd add Brave New World to the list too.

Dirt and Superunknown are two of the best grunge albums if not two of the best albums of the 90s. Screaming Trees were good, I'd forgotten about them.

The EP this is from is pretty fantastic (yes that's Mikael ร
kerfeldt of Opeth on vocal duties):
Also, if you've never heard their album Brave Murder Day, you should probably get onto it right away:

He's more than "OK", he's one of the best growlers in metal but yeah whilst his clean vocals are not exactly fantastic they are far from terrible. Damnation is a damn fine record and his vocals do not ruin it in any way.

I've listened to Panopticon but it was some time ago. It's their highest rated album on RYM, so I guess it's one of 4. I'll have to give those albums a listen at some point.
Happy Birthday, btw.

No idea what you're talking about that he couldn't sing until 2019, I've already said his clean vocals on Damnation (2003) are perfectly good. Yes, anything pre-Still Life are not exactly great but again, his singing on songs like The Moor and Face of Melinda is not terrible at all. You're hearing stuff most Opeth fans don't.
You might, should, enjoy these:
You won't enjoy this so much but one of the best hip-hop tracks of the year:
