I'm watching Mimic right now. Somehow it isn't 100% successful, but it's hard to say why not. It does a lot of things right, I think.

Anyway, what are some other horror movies (or books!) that have a lot of scenes, or at least one really important scene, somewhere underground like a sewer or a subway? I'll start.

It
Relic
Reliquary (book)
CHUD
Mimic
Return of the Living Dead 2 (just a couple quick scenes in that huge sewer pipe, but they are important scenes for the movie)
Midnight Meat Train
This horror short film: youtube
Resident Evil (arguably)
Demons (1985) (the beginning)
American Werewolf in London
Cloverfield

and I see some more when I start Googling, but nothing I've seen personally. Anyone got any good ones to mention?

Raw Meat (1973) had Donald Pleasance and some subway cannibals.

Of course, the first movie that comes to mind is CHUD, which stands for "Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers". Kinda funny how the sequel had nothing to do with the underground. emoticon

CHUD stood for something else at first in the movie, didn't it?

Something reminded me of this thread... I meant to mention this book awhile back, but kept forgetting. It's not horror, but it is a children's fantasy story that takes place in the train tunnels under London. The author was a pretty significant conductor, apparently. That's "conductor" in the sense of music symphonies, not trains or electricity, by the way.

Hey, another one would be Pickman's Model, one of H.P. Lovecraft's few stories set in Boston, my home metro area.

Creep (2004) takes place almost entirely in a subway.

Return of the Living Dead 3: the weirdest parts of the movie take place in a sewer.

Blade 2: the vampire nest is in a sewer.

Alligator: the gator lives in a sewer.

Slugs: the ending is in a sewer, can't remember if it's featured anywhere else.

Maniac (1980): the killer stalks one victim through a subway station.
