Well Wiki and Google reference Darkman as an action/superhero horror movie so I watched it on that basis even though it's been years and years since I last saw it and could only remember his face as being the only "horrifying" aspect of it. But then so is Deadpool and Deadpool ain't horror. There wasn't even much gore for a Sam Raimi movie so yeah it was probably more suitable for the sci-fi challenge but if there is a horror tag somewhere for it, then it can still count. Remember it's not just IMDb, it can be Wiki, RT or any other major movie reference/database site for a movie to count. Having said all that, and if I was using my own judgement, I don't personally feel Darkman is a horror movie therefore I am going to remove it.
In regards to The Addams Family, Wiki references it as a "supernatural" black comedy and I would say anything "supernatural" should be allowed to count in the challenge as a horror subgenre, and in the spirit of the month of Halloween. Well ok, so Ghost is a "supernatural" romance and that wouldn't count however The Addams Family has enough macabre elements to count as horror and it features on a few "horror movies for kids" lists. Also the recent animated version has a horror tag on IMDb, even though the orignal movie (or series) doesn't... consistency please IMDb! So I will keep The Addams Family because damn it, I have to watch movies with my kids every weekend and it's a struggle to find horror ones suitable for a 6 year old.
And there are some family "horror" movies. I mean, don't forget this scene, which whilst part of a stage play, is still going to be some kids first introduction to blood splatter:
