There are 11 participants and since no one objected to my suggestion, we will have 3 participants in three of the KOs. Names were picked out using a randomer (not independently verified but you will just have to trust me). So please select whose list you prefer the most. Tell us why. The semis will take place on Tuesday, so you have two days to catch up on some music.

Zombie's got some really good stuff, but I could do without Beastie Boys, Fleetwood Mac, Def Leppard, Scorpions, Ratt, ONJ, and Nazareth. Oh, and Deep Purple is better than everything on the list except 80's Metallica.

Onyx also has her fair share of good picks. I had never heard The The or Red Rider, and I liked them very much. The list is hurt by Gary Numan, Eurythmics, Enigma, Falco, and The Police.

sfpx's list has got to be the most similar to mine. I wanted to pick The Jesus Lizard myself. I'm really not into Flipper, but everything else gets the thumbs up.

So my vote goes to sfpx.

Give or take a few, Zombie's list starts out quite strongly for me, but loses it a bit after Metallica, although Def Leppard used to be one of my favourite bands growing up. My favourites: Yes, Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Judas Priest, pre-1990s Metallica.

Onyx's list is more consistent. There is a lot of music I enjoy: David Bowie, Queen, Pink Floyd, Type O Negative, Gary Numan, The Doors, Talking Heads, and stuff I enjoyed from when I was growing up: Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Dire Straits, The Police.. I need to listen to more Prince though.

sfpx's list has some good stuff too.. Maiden, Wipers, Killing Joke, Velvet Underground.. was never a big fan of Slayer, probably the only "big" thrash metal band I find a bit overrated. I enjoyed the latest IDLES album too.

If this were football (soccer), this would be the "group of death", but I am going for Onyx for diversity and consistency.

So we have a tie but Marcus is making me choose. So since Onyx has Bowie I have to break the tie there. I Vote: Onyx

From Zombie's list: Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Ramones, Judas Priest, Cheap Trick are my kind of classic rock. I also don't mind some of the others like Heart, Styx, ZZ Top, and Scorpions. A couple others I'm not familiar with.

Onyx has Bowie, so it's a close one already. Queen, Floyd, Type O, The Doors, and Billy Idol are all stuff I can get into.

sfpx's list is a bit obscure punk-ish to me. Not familiar with most of it, but I love Maiden, and I love The Stooges.

All these lists have some winners, but @ZombieCPA's list melts my heart. I'll probably go to hell for not voting for a list with Bowie, but fuck it. I think what really sold me was The Ramones and Cheap Trick.

Zombie ended up with quite a few bands I like. AC/DC would've been my third or fourth pick if he hadn't gotten them first. Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Judas Priest, Metallica, ZZ Top, and Scorpions are great as well. Not crazy about Olivia Newton-John or The Beastie Boys.

Onyx has Type O Negative, another band I would've picked early on. Queen, Pink Floyd, and The Doors also stand out. I really like the variety of her list and there isn't anyone on it I dislike.

From sfpx's list, I enjoy Iron Maiden, Devo, The Cramps, and Slayer. A few of the bands I wasn't familiar with were good too, particularly IDLES and Killing Joke, but some of them really don't do much for me.

Even though he tainted his list with a couple picks, Zombie gets my vote, mainly thanks to his hard rock and heavy metal choices.
