Curious to know everyone's music tastes so I think this might be a good idea for a future draft. I get the impression the majority of us enjoy rock/metal music but would be interesting to know who picks what. If anyone is not sure of a particular band/artist when it comes to voting, just YouTube their "best" song.

Anyone up for this? If not more than 8 participants, I won't bother but let's see.

Personally speaking, the band or artist themselves should be the clear choice.

Here's why:

I know Box loves the Ramones. I do too. But it's a matter of who gets to them first and when we decide to pick them. It's the same as me making sure to pick my all-time favorite movie before the next guy does.

Picking songs seems.... kinda pointless and takes the fun out of it. Let's go with the songs idea:

Box can pick a Ramones song and then I can pick one. Possibly even one off the SAME album. Where's the fun in that? How do the voters go about picking whose list to ultimately favor? (Assuming we're pitted against each other.) It just seems...unnecessarily difficult to me. If Box's list is full of bands and artists I really like, and you pick (hypothetically speaking) only one or two I dig, it makes the choice much clearer.

Everyone knows Onyx loves David Bowie and it'd be pretty messed up if someone besides her picked them before she did. I think she can rightfully claim him. I wouldn't have a problem with that. You can think about Bowie's entire discography which she's rightfully claimed versus someone who, lets say, picks Slayer. It gives a broader idea of where so-and-so's musical head is at, and therefore is not only easier to choose, but more fun as well.

I can also think of songs I love by an artist, but wouldn't necessarily ever even think twice about holding the band themselves in such high esteem.

Picking songs would be like picking movie endings in the last draft. We aren't picking whole movies, but just the ending alone. That's stupid, right? We want to make claim to the piece of work in the broadest aspect possible. The whole film. The whole band (and their respective discography that goes along with it.)

I think everyone should link ONE song they love with said band / artist, even if they're super well known, because you never know, and we use common sense in determining anything else beyond that. If someone is unfamiliar with Davie Bowie, and Onyx links her favorite song and that person can't stand it..... well, it's a pretty easy decision from there. I mean they COULD end up liking something else by him, and that ultimately can be up to each individual on whether they seek to explore more based on that one song.
