Trashepics is the place to be! A good feature that Box added is the ability yo upload all your imdb ratings. It saves a lot of hassle.

Didn't the fappening occur before IMDb shut down the boards?

I figured the boards were shut down because of all the fighting that was going on both in the Horror board and the Soapbox. I was involved in some of it and probably share some percentage of blame. I wasn't getting along well with a lot of people. There was also that guy named Jason that was hacking peoples' accounts and posting private information, and calling people on the phone and threatening them. He called me once and lost my cool and argued with him, and called the number he gave me and yelled at his wife and called her a whore and him a whole bunch of other names. He kept calling everybody Virgil and claiming to be gay. He was one person who was harassing me, and there were several others. I got sick of it and reacted in a way that only made things worse. That was my contribution to the loss of the IMDb boards.

I don't know what happened to this board. It looks like a lot of people just aren't here anymore. I didn't see any fighting here, but people are saying that there was some.

It was more about negative press and Amazon's desires to distance themselves from the toxic userbase that imdb had. They couldn't put a filter on the voice of their users, so they removed their voice.

People used to be enthused about this place, but a lot of them got butthurt about their differing opinions, and surprise... this is the internet, and people will disagree. I've tried reaching out to a lot of our lost users to make ammends, but most of them wont have it. I attribute that to their own personal issues, because me and basically everyone else on here would have tried to work things out, but some people don't want that. Some people want to be martyrs, and that's an awful thing to want to be.

That's pretty damn funny that you chewed out the guy's wife though. I never heard of that particular instance of trolling, but I am familiar with some tool calling people virgil. I know mulletkid used to do that, but maybe he got that from this guy you're talking about.

That guy used many screen names over time. Mulletkid was one of them. When he started calling people Virgil I always knew it was the same guy with a new name. Someone said his real name was Jason, and he used the name Jason when he sent me private messages. The guy who called me did also claim he was Jason Simmons.

I'm sure there were many factors that led to the closing of the boards. But "toxic userbase" as you put it could refer to people who were on there fighting and trolling constantly. I wasn't trolling in the true sense, but I did argue with a lot of people. That wasn't smart and only made things worse. But even when things hit rock bottom I kept coming back because I thought it was important to have a board for horror movies. I knew I handled things badly in many cases and was willing to try again and give people another chance. That's why I'm still here as well. I really didn't think most of the other people who initially came here after the boards shut down would give up that easily, because I thought they were more interested in discussing movies than arguing. I really hoped people like Corpus and Shaza would come here and stay.

Filmboards has a lot more activity than they used to. It bothers me that they have a relatively active horror board now, because those fuckers should be posting that stuff here. It even says so on the board index! But good for them anyway. I got no beef with filmboards. I just strive to outdo them in every way.

This place aint no barebones message board. We have more to offer than most of the other primary alternatives: file uploads, camera functionality, media databases, a trash-pedia, some shitty pixelated games, and all the random-ass other features I add and update regularly. Plus, we have a few throwback skins in case anyone is too lazy to learn our simple system. I'm always working on fixing things and adding new things. All these other sites can suck my nuts.

Why do you think that it is? I remember there would be months without a single post on their horror board. I only checked there today and it is crazy active lately it seems.
