I don't remember much about Stand By Me either but I do remember Maximum Overdrive being pretty bad. You seriously think it's the best of all the King adaptations? Yikes.
I really need to watch it again but I'll believe you . Although 5.5 on IMDb and 17% on RT doesn't give me huge confidence that it's any better than or as good as Carrie, The Shining or The Dead Zone.
Silver Bullet is kind of a fun one. I was watching it the other day and never noticed before how similar it feels to a Friday the 13th movie, particularly parts 4 and 5.
The Green Mile was pretty damn good. It's very much along the lines of Shawshank, but with a bit more supernatural elements. Some of it is pretty fucked up, too.
Shawshank is a bit overrated. It was number 1 on imdb's top 250 for ages, but a lot of that was due to users trying to rig those lists. It's an okay movie, but nowhere near the greatest. I happen to think Escape from Alcatraz is a better and more eerie prison movie. Still, it's interesting that Tim Robbins will be in season 2 of Castle Rock.
