Just shooting the shit here. Internet forums in particular required a username to get by, so what are some of your old monickers on the world wide web?

I've gone by a few Ren & Stimpy names, as well as a bunch of Cornbugs song titles. Some of my nicknames were pro-communism, some of them were asinine... but most of them are Cornbugs songs. Cornbugs Cornbugs, everyone's a cornbug.

Also, with the death of message boards, I sadly no longer feel the need to create a new username ever. Not that I should feel sad about that trivial shit, but it's the end of an era nonetheless.

Mine has always been the same, only it was Wakko briefly. I first used it on the American Singles Chat site. This was in 1996 and it was a total disaster - completely unmoderated and users had the ability send viruses and malware right through the chat rooms to any user in there. There were always arguments and people would post each others' phone numbers and social security numbers, contact their internet providers and accuse them of all kinds of crap, and just plain harass them. It was something like the stuff that Jason guy used to do on the IMDb boards only ten times worse. I stuck with the names Yakko and Wakko because they pissed off the people in there. Some of my neighbors were always in there and they recognized me and started hassling me. The cops came to my house as a result of some of the stuff that went on there. They actually thought I was using names of cartoon characters in chat rooms to entice children, and they came to my house and took pictures of all the Animaniacs stuff I had. They saw that I liked horror movies and that I had a bug collection and said I could be the next Jeffrey Dahmer or the next Unibomber. Then after they left I went and bought even more Animanics stuff and put it in every window in the house just to spite them and my neighbors. I even made a big stained glass Wakko and hung it in the window facing the one neighbor I knew had started the whole thing. People would confront me outside and on the street and tell me to get out of town and I'd start screaming and swearing at them, calling them liars and whores and druggies. I kept going in the chat rooms just to piss them all off and daring them to do stuff, and they kept doing it. I finally did have to leave that town.

So the screen name Yakko has stuck. I wonder if it might be one of the oldest screen names in use now. I also wondered at one point if I could get sued for using it, because it's the name of a copyrighted character.

So, so many. I've had many IMDb accounts over the years going all the way back to 1998, but my last one that I created (before deleting when the message boards went belly up) I had usernames like afteryourbrain, named after a song by Italian hardcore band Raw Power, then strangerfromPlanetX, before appreviating it to sfpx.

I remember calling myself Pinehurst_Mental_Asylum in like 2007ish, named after the halfway house in Friday the 13th 5.

On AOL, I had many names as well, most of which I've forgotten. One of them was TERRY HAWKINS, stylized like that in all caps, named after the main baddie in "Last House on Dead End Street." This was in, like, 2001 when AOL chat rooms were all the rage.

Welcome back, sfpx! 1998, huh? You must have been one of the earliest. I hadn't joined that site until early/mid 2000s. I feel like I've seen some of those names roaming about back in the day. I also think I might have joined an AOL chatroom once or twice, but I can't confirm that. Memories...
