The Cars is one of the most 80's bands ever, even though they came out in the late 70s. They were new wave and yet they pioneered the synth pop sound that dominated the 80s.

Ric was kind of a beatnik, and even played "beatnik cat" in John Waters' Hairspray. I loved ALL of The Cars music, and Ric even had a pretty damn good solo career. I'm very very upset about this...

When The Cars reunited in 2011, that album was GREAT. I listened to the fuck out of that album and was highly anticipating a follow-up, until now. This is some awful news.

If you watched Stranger Things season 3, they have a swimming pool scene with Dacre Montgomery's character Billy as a lifeguard, and "Moving in Stereo" plays. It's clearly an homage to Fast Times, but instead of a sexy woman, it's a fucking tool who's supposed to be some Zac Efron wannabe, but he's no Zac Efron. I always hated that character. Glad he died.

R.I.P.

Not a huge Cars fan, but they got some decent tunes. Plus Ric produced Bad Brains best album, and he had one hell of an adams apple.

I recall you mentioning his adam's apple before, and it is quite epic. He also produced some early Weezer album(s). I think a lot of The Cars' discography is solid. Several of their albums have almost no filler in them. Just good tunes.

Oh boy, when I start repeating myself and aren't even aware of doing so, maybe I need an internet break...yikes...

Now might be a good time to investigate the band further...

Don't ever take a break from the internet. I need sfpx in my life!

I honestly like all of their albums. They're never too serious and have a lot of catchy beats to them. Door to Door may be their weakest, but it's not necessarily bad. I like the first two albums the most, along with their last "Move Like This". I might go on a Cars binge for a few weeks, just as I do when all my favorite rock idols die.

It really does suck when your favorite bands perish. In 2016, David Bowie died and that killed me. In 2017, Chris Cornell died, and that killed me even more. Thank God 2018 didn't kill off one of my favorites, but Ric is a big enough deal to me to make 2019 a big bummer. We really are losing a lot of the legends as of late, and music already sucks enough today. I generally find myself listening to older shit because the newer shit never has any impact on me.

Things are going to be very rough over the course of the next 5, 10, 15 years. And not just music, but lots of actors and directors too.

With there only being 7 albums, you can't go wrong with any of them. I do think the first two are the best, being "The Cars" (1978) and "Candy-O" (1979), but their last album "Move Like This" (2011) is also great, most notably in how 80s it still sounds.

He was a particularly big deal around Boston, for a long time. He didn't grow up here, but the Cars pretty much got started around here, and local radio stations gave them their first exposure to the masses, like me. He was marred to Paulina Porizkova, whom you guys might remember I went into ecstasy over, right here on Trash Epics, not too long ago. Ric and Paulina supposedly lived together somewhere by the sea, a few towns south of Boston, for a long time... Cohasset or Duxbury, I think. I interacted with Paulina on Twitter once, and it was the most savagely intense sexual experience I have ever had in my life. Well, no, but, she was nice enough to respond to some stupid thing I tweeted to her. ..... anyway, Ric Ocasek and she used to be spotted now and then walking around Boston, and it was always a big deal to anyone who saw them. I guess they were our Tom Brady and Gisele, before Tom and Gisele were around..... anyway, who cares about Boston stuff, sorry to ramble. His songs were amazing, and he addded a lot to my life. I am rreally sad that he is gone. God damn it. RIP Ric Ocasek.
