I didn't like Chemistry in school. I know lots of kids found it interesting, but something about it bothered me. I guess because I was such a history nerd, chemical warefare was always at the back on my mind. The effects of napalm, agent orange, chlorine gases etc etc. That's some scary shit. I've been thinking of this movie a lot lately. The film deals with a mother losing her mind over the constant chaos that her son regularly instills upon her, and I can't help but feel a strong parallel to my own undesired reality. I live with my mother, who's taken custody of her severely autistic grandson, because his own mother couldn't bear it any longer. They like to focus on his autism as the reason for his manic behavior, but I've always felt his strong mental retardation was the greater issue. He's a handful to live with, and while I hate my sister for all the other horrible things she's done in her life, particularly to my own mother, I wont hold it against her that she couldn't deal with this child anymore. He's enough to drive anyone mad, and yet my mother has taken on the burden herself, due to some twisted sense of loyalty to her family that I can't understand. I wish I was more patient, but it's hard to be patient when you haven't had a good night's sleep in weeks. Continue »

I think it was sicker than I was expecting, per se.
It probably didn't hurt that they kept the 1958 setting, as opposed to trying to make it contemporary.
My two cents.

The pink flamingos are the default background on this site, in honor of John Water's film of the same name, but I realize that it's a pretty fucking stupid background. If anyone didn't know it already, you can change your preferred background on the site's footer. Mine is Danielle Harris, because she's hot as fuck. I'll never get tired of looking at her.

This movie is far from perfect, but in some ways it really blows me away. I think the scarecrows are as creepy as you could possibly want them to be. The way their voices, speaking right into the minds of their victims, can be confused with the voices of the other soldiers, on the audio headsets, is also pretty freaky. Also, I enjoy a good old fashioned military horror movie now and then, like Dog Soldiers, Day of the Dead, etc.... good stuff.

I just watched Thunderbolt and Lightfoot for the first time, and it's a pretty damn good movie. Then again, is anything of his not good? He's pretty much the greatest man who ever lived.

Flowers is a abstract surreal horror film from Phil Stevens. Basically it's about six females waking up in the crawlspace underneath their killer's house. My perspective of the movie is it's the women remembering their lives and deaths. The audience gets a glimpse of both. Flowers also has no dialogue, but that in no way hinders the movie. "An american giallo" is the best possible description, and I was extremely pleased with this one.

Atmospheric and violent, this film traces the exploits of a med student who witnesses his sister's death
(as a child) at the start of the film.

This is apparently all he needed to go on a murderous rampage, but there's style to spare in this senseless
horror film filmed largely in my state (Texas).

Side Note: The ending is quite masterful, as subtle as it happens to be. 7/10 from me.

As far as the films of Paul Mossissey go, I only really love two of them. Flesh For Frankenstein and Blood For Dracula. These two mean spirited, 70's exploitation versions of the popular Horror tales include what is most likely the best performance by not only Udo Kier, but Joe Dallesandro as well. They're great.
