I whole heartedly agree to this. I think all of these shows getting banned is ridiculous.

What shows are being taken away?

I saw something about some kind of outrage toward the children's cartoon "Paw Patrol." Thought it was parody but no, it's real. Bizarre.

Yes, Paw Patrol is in trouble because it features a positive portrayal of a police dog. Cops and Live PD have both been cancelled also. Because one cop did a bad thing, all cops must now be portrayed as evil.

Every episode of a show that has ever featured blackface, regardless of context, are now being removed from all streaming services. This includes episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Office, 30 Rock. Even a Golden Girls episode where they were wearing mud masks for fucks sake.

In every single case that I am aware of, the blackface was not there to make fun of black people. It was the use of blackface that was being mocked. The people wearing it were the butt of the joke. But it doesn't matter, all traces of blackface must removed. Even if it just vaguely resembles blackface, better to just play it safe and get rid of it.

And now all white voice actors who have ever voiced a character who was not 100% white are being forced to publicly apologize, and if they are still doing the voice, resign. This is most notably happening with The Simpsons and Family Guy. The way things are going with blackface being removed, I wouldn't be surprised if they started trying to either erase all of those old episodes, or redub all the non-white voices.

Yeah I heard yesterday Simpsons and Family Guy were no longer going to be using white people to voice black characters. I mean, I guess it sort of makes sense to have a black man voice the black character. It'd seem like a slap in my face if I lost the job to a white man when the character is black. But the people being made to apologize and act as if they did something bad, racist, evil, etc. is just plain wrong.

Erasing these things or acting like they didn't exist, whether intentionally offensive or otherwise, is kind of shortsighted, imo. It happened. It's there and more importantly, it's just supposed to be entertainment.

Reminds me of shortly after 9/11 there was talks of digitally removing the twin towers for the DVD release of certain movies.

Also certain episodes of South Park are not being streamed. Which is ridiculous because South Park is a show meant to be offensive. I believe HBO is also refusing to gone with the wind due to its portrayal of slavery. And there's an episode of friends being removed because Ross was inherently racist.

I can understand moving forward the entertainment business will be better about casting, and what jokes they used. But as for the shows that have already ended, or those episodes have already aired, I personally think it's stupid to remove it. Just do better. Those episodes came out in a different time, and most of them were just supposed to be funny.

I just feel like people over react to everything lately.

Those South Park episodes were banned due to fear of terrorist attacks, because of their depictions on Muhammad. The episode 201 was never aired completely uncut. This is why I laugh when people insist one should never lean either left or right even a little. Smack dab in the middle is always the way to go cuz both sides are somehow equally fucked up. Meanwhile, it's only one side that makes a big deal about shit like this. And if it's not this, they'll come up with something that people need to change. And the more they get their way, the more easily-offended they pretend to be. People have been caving in and bending the knee to PC culture for a while and that's the only reason it's gotten to this ridiculous point.
