It's like a Friday The 13th ranking thread but with Halloween films

1. Halloween (1978)
2. Halloween II (1981)
3. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers
4. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
5. Halloween III: The Season of The Witch
6. Halloween H20
7. Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers
8. Halloween: Resurrection
9. Halloween (2007)
10. Halloween II (2009)

H20 is very average, but still the best in a long while. Hope the new one is good.

Surprised that 5 would rank that high but I do like it.

Rob Zombie's Halloween's might be better productions with an auteur vision than say Curse of Michael Myers, but still add up to be the worst Halloween movies for me.

6 was painful to watch. Paul Rudd's acting was the only thing about it I liked.

I could easily swap the original and 3.

H20's decent, especially compared to Curse and the movies that followed. The trailer for the new one reminded me of H20, but I hope it's better.

I've given the remake and its sequel more than enough chances. They don't work for me. So many parts make me cringe and not for the reasons Rob Zombie might hope for. If someone edited out Scout Taylor-Compton's scenes, I'd consider giving them another chance.

I love the first 3 movies. That's easy. 4 and 5 have their place in their own cheesier way, and 6 is a lousy, convoluted wrap-up to that sub-trilogy. H20 is a decent effort, and Resurrection should be erased from history. All copies of that film should be destroyed.

Rob Zombie missed the point entirely, so fuck both of those movies.

H1 > H2 > H3 > H20 > H5 > H4 > H6 > RZ H1 > RZ H2 > H8

1, 2, Remake > The rest, in whatever order, as I don't really care for 'em.

the original is a masterpiece. the first sequel is pretty good, as far as sequels go. Season of the Witch wasn't really that good but had a lot of interesting stuff and i greatly regret it killing the anthology aspect of the series.

I don't find anything later to even merit comment.

Halloween (1978)
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Meyers
Halloween III: Season of the Witch
Halloween (2007 remake)
Halloween H2O
Halloween 5: Revenge of Michael Meyers
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Meyers
Halloween II (1981)

I have not seen Zombie's remake of II, or Curse's much ballyhooed Producer's Cut. I was curious about Resurrection when it came on SciFi once. I turned the fucking channel not long after Busta Rhymes appeared. And I actually like some of his music videos, but I just couldn't take it any longer.

I still think the Fall/Halloweenie atmosphere and set designs/decorations are great in Curse.

III has the most forboding, hopeless, and uneasy atmosphere of them all, all enhanced by the music. It's those damn ancient celtic rites and rituals and pagan magiks.

For a reason I can't explain I have always been creeped when Dan O'Herlihy's character smiles/chuckles and tells Tom Atkins they had a hell of a time figuring out how to get the giant druid stones to California and that he just wouldn't believe how they did it.
