I think the easiest way to explain the differences between Jaws and Deep Blue Sea is that Jaws has an Oscar winning score from John Williams, whilst Deep Blue Sea has an LL Cool J song where he declares that "His hat is like a shark fin" (What does that even mean?)

Here's the trailer for Deep Blue Sea 2.

I've never seen Deep Blue Sea, but my second favorite shark movie is, believe it or not, Jaws: The Revenge. Yeah, yeah.

Both are entertaining films. Deep Blue Sea is more of an thriller, while Jaws 2 is more like a drama.

Deep Blue is a fun Renny Harlin ride with Tom Jane slipping around the whole movie, and LL Cool J and his damn bird. It'll fake you out a few times, but it ain't bad.

Jaws 2 still carries the vibe of the first one, so I don't know why people don't like it so much. It still had Roy Sheider, plus a young Keith Gordon when he was still an actor.

Personally? I'm not sure which I give the edge to. I think these two would be the main contenders (fuck Sharknado), and since Jaws is already the best, I think I might pick Deep Blue Sea by a hair.

The trailer to part 2 looks pretty decent for a DTV movie, but it'll probably be okay at best.

Jaws 2. Part of that's because I'm a big fan of Roy Scheider. He's great in everything I've seen him in and Jaws 2 is no exception. I also always enjoy the shark's death in 2. It's a different death from the original and manages to be just as memorable.

However, Deep Blue Sea isn't bad, especially for a late '90s horror movie. It's cheesy fun. The sequel looks okay, but not sure I'll ever watch it.

Deep Blue Sea. I fondly remember buying the VHS at Wal-mart along with The Sixth Sense on the same trip.

Jaws 2 is a decent sequel, but without Hooper and especially Robert Shaw's Quint for Brody to interact with, it's just average. Nothing special, and that's a letdown after how perfect the original Jaws was.

Jaws 2 for me, it was the 2nd film I ever saw at the cinemas as a kid so nostalgia is a factor for me. I never thought much for Deep Blue Sea but I guess it could warrant a rewatch, plus I've never been a fan of Licking Lips Cool J.
