A pretty good creature feature.

Although not well known in the public conscious these days it is as far as I can tell pretty well regarded amongst genre fans.

I like that the backstory of the alligator and its gigantic growth sounds plausible enough, eating the hormone injected bodies of test animals illegally discarded in the sewer.

Robert Forster is good on the role, does he remind anyone else of Charles Bronson?

I love this film... and I'm still waiting on the blu ray. I totally forgot Forster was in this and I just rewatched Jackie Brown the other day too.

Meh. Fun back in the day as a late afternoon TV staple. I doubt I'd be too into it now.

Terrific film. I am a Forster fan although the films he has been in have not always lived up to his performance. This is one of the great ones. Some other favorites with Forster: Jackie Brown (his best role ever), Supernova, Hollywood Harry & Avalanche (1978).

Ace stuff, this. Commited performances and a smart, witty but not snarky script. decent tension and jolts, cool creature. I have a slight soft spot for the lame sequel too.
