I think the story is a bit pointless, but it deserves a good slasher film. Any of the characters are not really memorable, or even the killer. It doesn't have a strong feeling like Valentine movie, but I enjoyed it on Valentine's Day. I loved the ending, it's creepy. I'd give it a 7.5/10 as a solid slasher film. I think The Prowler (1981) is much better and that one's excellent slasher film. I'm looking forward to the remake if I will like it more than the original.

So, what are your thoughts on this one and what would you rate it?

This is actually one of least favorite 80's slashers. A very rare occasion where I can tolerate the remake more. It did have a pretty creepy opening scene, though. 3/10

I'm not as crazy about The Prowler as I once was. It seems kinda dry to me, whereas MBV has a bit more flavor. The killer's costume is way better (I'm not even sure what the Prowler's mask is), and the uncut kills are pretty gnarly.

However... I'm going to say I enjoyed the "remake" more. It's gorier, AND it has Tom Atkins!

I think it is excellent. A top 5 slasher for me.

I'm pretty much the opposite of you. I like My Bloody Valentine a lot. I enjoy the characters, the killer, and the setting. With The Prowler, I tend to zone out. The Prowler has mostly superior death scenes though. I'd give MBV at least a 4/5 and The Prowler probably a 3/5.

I completely agree. The Prowler obviously has some of the best kills of any slasher really but lacks in just the other departments.
