Got this 7 blu-ray set the other day...

Been watching the Child's Play/Chucky series all week. Watched Seed earlier only because that's the only way I could watch the ENTIRE series. But talk about jumping the fucking shark! Every bit as cringy as I remember. I think the problem began when someone decided a movie about Chucky's kid had to happen and was the logical next step. I suppose there was really no way to do this without going full on Gremlins 2 not giving a fuck.

I wasn't totally against the more horror comedy direction taken in Bride as the series needed something to breath new life into it after a pretty weak 3rd installment, but shit like Chucky jerkin' it to Fangoria and later on causing Britney Spears to have a wreck and saying "oops, I did it again" was pretty brutal, especially if one prefers the straight horror of the first 3. And the whole idea of a movie being made after the events of Bride, with Jennifer Tilly doing the voice of Tiffany, not to mention the dolls used in this movie so easily being brought to life, is a bit hard to swalllow and just makes a joke out of everything that came before it.

Never mind Chucky and Tiffany not being sore at each other after how things ended. Literally no acknowledgement of the little bit of seriousness from Bride. It's one thing to piss all over the continuity and tone of the first 3, but now we're disregarding plot points from Bride and taking it all several steps further and removing the little bit of traditional horror elements left in that one. Having it set in Hollywood, having celebrities play themselves, not only having Chucky share the spotlight, but actually takng a backseat to Glenn/Glenda. I'm surprised the series didn't die with this one. However, watching them wedge Seed's batshit continuity into the tv show was pretty funny.

Thoughts on this series? Big fan of it, myself. Seed pisses me off though.

I like the first two, Bride and Curse are decent, not a fan of Seed and I struggle to remember much about 3. Haven't seen Cult. Overall, I think the series is enjoyable but like most horror franchises, it's wearing a bit thin especially with the TV show, which I just couldn't get into at all.

Part 2 has always been my favorite. That whole factory chase at the end really creeped me out as a kid. I'm kind of rusty on most of the series though. I barely remember Seed other than John Waters getting his face melted off. Jennifer Tilly had some pretty great boob in those movies though.

I think I could stand to binge this entire series before season 2 comes to Peacock. I should probably buy that dvd set. I don't own any of these damn movies.

I actually like Seed better than 3 and Bride. It's silly as fuck, sure , and not scary at all, but I do think it has a very interesting story.

Always been a fan of the series since I walked outta the theater of the original in 88. I've stated many times here that my favorite is Part 2, it's probably the installment I've rewatched the most times revisiting every October. While I don't love Seed, my least favorite installment is easily Child's Play 3. When more than a decade after Seed was released and Curse came out, I didn't expect much from it but surprisingly found it to be my 3rd favorite behind 2 and the original. As far as the TV series goes, I really liked the first season and found myself conversing with Box about it almost every week. This season I found a little disappointing at times but still ok due to imo its strong finish in the last 2 eps. I found the season finale to be exceptionally fun.

I bought the 7-movie collection! I still don't know why I never bought any of these movies until now. I'd seen them on tv plenty of times and got nightmares from the first one when I was really young, but I never bought these damn movies...

First is pretty good. I like that it's relatively psychological for a minute, until she threatens to throw him in the fire. I think his small-bodied movement is a bit creepy, kudos to the little people and animatronics involved.

Perhaps the original is the most respectable, scary and all around quality horror film of the series, But after watching them all a while back, 2 is definitely my favorite now more than ever. It has my vote for best horror sequel of 1990.

2 is generally my default favorite of the series as well. I saw it on tv more than the others, and even though it's just a plastic doll, that "gore" in the end always disturbed me as a kid.

There's no Chucky more dangerous and unreasonable than the one from the last 20 minutes of Child's Play 2. As soon as he realizes getting into Andy is no longer an option, his entire plan is thrown out the window and he just wants to fuck everyone up. Always wondered what he would have done next had he succeeded in killing them, with no way to get out of the shitty, one-handed doll.

I always thought that scene where Jennifer Tilly has sex with Redman in an attempt to get the role of the Virgin Mary was one of the funniest parts of the whole franchise. I'll be really impressed if the TV series can top that. I would say that they have not topped it, so far, but I guess it's still possible.
