I was waiting on Matheny to reclaim her place as host, but doesn't look like that's going to happen. So, here goes...

Welcome to the 2017 October Challenge. And for many of us, this is the first one away from the IMDb Horror board, which means it's no longer required to save your progress. So, fuck that no life having little cocksucker that used to make it necessary to delete the OP. Seriously. Kill yourself, whoever you were.

So, the rules, as I remember. To complete this challenge, one must watch at least 31 Horror films in the month of October. At least 16 of which shall be first time viewings. All are welcome to watch and list as many as possible.

No TV shows, no Documentaries. Horror films only.

If you're not positive as to whether or not a movie is of the Horror genre, just use your own judgement. If you feel like there's a little Horror in there, then it counts.

I'm gonna go with 45 minutes minimum for a movie to count.

Challenge begins when October begins, and ends with October ends.

No, wait! if I remember correctly, the challenge usually runs until 6 AM November 1st. So, for anyone wanting to have an all night Halloween marathon, there ya go!

If anyone has any questions or comments... https://trashepics.com/post/9/161/

Remember to list the number of movies/FTVs at the bottom, or it will not be counted in the results thread.

This is the year of trash. And this will no doubt prove to be the trashiest October Challenge of them all!

And this is where you make your spot. Have fun!

I work full time from Monday to Thursday not on Fridays or weekends, so that's 4/5 or 80%. I just can't do more or I would be shattered during weekends (as the past has proved when I worked full time). I travel 2 days a week by train to work which is quite a trip giving me the opportunity to watch movies on my tablet.

Brian, sometimes I wish I could take a whole month of I would not even care if that didn't generate any income for me just to get some things done that keep getting pushed back because work and other (social) activities keep intervening. Still I need some social contacts.

It's been a few years since I have seen it. I thought it was ok, it reminded me a bit of The Company of Wolves but Valerie didn't make much sense to me. It was ok for a 1 time view for the setting which was lovely, there was no real story that made sense to me more like symbolism of a young girl discovering her sexuality. So no not a fan of it, if you liked it though I would rec you Lemora which is a bit in the same style as Valerie. The reason why I like Company of Wolves over Ginger Snaps or any other werewolf or surreal/symbolic fantasy horror is because it's one of the few that mixes fantasy/fairy tale and it's symbolism in a (for me anyway) interesting way with horror and despite the symbolism still has a story (plus sub stories told by the grandmother) that does make sense. Call it fantasy horror or dark fantasy and I love that but it's rarely executed the way I like it. Call me lazy but I really don't feel like figuring out all symbolism. Lastly I was alwyas a fan of The Red Riding Hood tale.
Ginger Snaps was like I said pretty good and a straightforward easy story even though the higschool teeny stuff doesn't interest me, personally it was not a fun period for me which is why most of the teenage flicks don't interest me. Fantasy doesn't work that well for me in a modern setting either.
So yeah you can't say I don't try and some stuff that is far away from what some might call kiddie horror I learned to appreciate even became a fan of (silent, black and white, old sci-fi horror, HG Lewis gore flicks, exploitation stuff 60s) . And while some of my favorites indeed have young female leads (and I do admit that attracts me more than other movies) it's no guarantee to success. However as I pointed out there is quite a variety of horror not fitting my favorite recipe I like as well.

I think you made the right conclusions there. Not saying teenage years were every day hell even though I must say I didn't particularly enjoy school days age 12-18. I must say I much prefer doing a job than getting up early going to class worrying if I had studied enough to pass the tests etc. Sometimes I still dream of being in class failing at something. Waking up and realizing ok I never have to go through that crap again, hallelujah! Also the gossip, the trying to outdo the other, impressing the other sex, showing of the typical cock behavior as we call it here of young males it was never for me. I could write pages of this but don't want to go that personal in public. So yes glad you understand it better now emoticon
