Mr Sardonicus was great... it might be my fav Castle film so far. I liked the 40s Lodger better than the 20s version (yea, I know it's Hitchcock). Haven't seen 30s Jekyll & Hyde or the orig Hunchback yet. Both are on my watch list, but I may not get to them this month. Cat and Canary too actually... hopefully I get to see at least 2 of those before the month is over!

Generally speaking, I tend to agree regarding too much talking and dialogue, though there are films where I enjoy a good banter. I love symbolism, mood, and imagery much more. And I do think the reason the early films in talkie era went overboard is because it was new. Same thing happened with CGI in the 90s and early 00s, and the technology wasn't even very good back then.
Is the Bob Hope fim you're referring to Ghost Breakers or another? That one is also on my list mainly because of another list I'm working off and trying to get 100% complete.

Not sure how I feel about Mr. Hope actually. Not that he's done anything bad that I know of... just kind of a meh persona to me. Also not a real fan of comedy, particualrly in my horror films, bt I did like the Abbott & Costello flick I just watched. Lots of talking in that one too.
That might be one reason I preferred slapstick as a kid (though kids and slapstick kind of go together like flies and shit): good comedy with potentially less dialogue.

It was great... 8/10 or so. I wasn't sure what to expect and I was quite pleased with what I saw: demented, sad, somewhat graphic and def. twisted. And I found that I had the odd appreciation of it being less than 80 minutes long. Windbags and editors that don't know the value of editing their own product are among my (very minor) grievances in cinema.

What is everyone's favorite film so far? We're almost halfway through this thing, after all...

I'll probably watch Eyes of my Mother when I get back after my holiday trip...
Mr Sardonicus is my fav FTV so far.
