We all have a different sense of humor. Well there is people around with no or little sense of humor but I guess (hope) they are a minority. We need humor otherwise this planet would be a sad place.

I'm just curious what kind of comedy you like. Me I don't have a clear favorite. Satire is not really my cup of tea, as it often requires to be up to date on a certain subject. When a subject does not interest me I'm not really going to catch the latest news on it. I already expressed a few times that toilet humor isn't funny to me.

While I can't really pinpoint what kind of comedy certainly works for me, I think it's more of a mood thing for me. Also it does work much better in company of others. That is more encouraging to let go that laughter. A good example happened last weekend when I watched Dumb and Dumber To with friends. I would really get annoyed with Jim Carey making silly faces whenever he can and would switch channel if I were alone. In company though I found it pretty enjoyable. Even toilet humor would become more bearable.

I don't think there is any scenario where I would find Dumb and Dumber To to be funny.

I am not a huge comedy fan but I do prefer satire or deadpan personally. Some slapstick stuff can be funny, like early Woody Allen or this moment of genius in Japanese film Kukijiro:

That's a shame, because I thought Dumb and Dumber To was pretty funny. Though I can agree that Jim Carrey can get quite irritating in films like Batman Forever and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. I think his best films are Ace Ventura 1, Dumb and Dumber, and Me Myself and Irene.

To define comedy is a tough one, so I'll just list a few of my favorite comedies:

Cheech and Chong Movies (Up in Smoke, Next Movie, Nice Dreams, Things are Tough All Over, Still Smokin). Besides some crude and raunchy drug and sex humor, there are a lot of great reactions and non-reactions to all the stupid things going on in these movies that I find funny. There are a lot of great site gags and nigh random skits going on.

Troll 2 and the So Bad it's Hilarious Movies. Incompetence makes me laugh a lot. Bad continuity, bland and oblivously bad acting, retarded editing and production values... this stuff is like crack to me. Especially when someone just doesn't know how bad the movie they're making is. You can't fake this shit.

Randomized Ren & Stimpy Humor. Of course, Ren & Stimpy was inspired by Peter Lorre and the Three Stooges, so it's got a morbid sense of cruelty to it, while at the same time it's chock full of bizarrely offbeat stupidity. Yak Shaving Day? Stinky Wizzleteats? The Muddy Mudskipper Show? Log!? The Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen? This show inspired the hell out of me when I was a teenager rewatching it. So grotesque, but so damn funny.

That's just some humor I like. I might add to this list later.

I don't really know, but I love to laugh and honestly I find a lot of things funny. It doesn't take a lot to make me laugh. My daughter makes me laugh a lot and I find it particularly difficult to maintain a straight face with her when I need to be serious. I often have to cover my mouth or turn my head so she won't see me forcing back a smile.

This always cracks me up

The shows Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia demonstrates what I find funny. The rare gems that get me to genuinely laugh.
