Now that I have seen the movie Pixels (2015) for a challenge, I had to think of this topic. In this movie we actually do have a guy cheating on Pac-man and Donkey Kong. I liked the concept of the movie and it was a nice nostalgia trip to these early 80s videogames.

I enjoyed a lot of it. It made me miss my old Atari . I remember playing a lot of Space Invaders as a kid.

Well it seems that mostly people who remember the games from their childhood could enjoy the movie. Ok I get Adam Sandler is not popular with everyone but I tend to like him over most comedy actors. A bit the child at heart, I do enjoy that. And Space Invaders was not in the movie I believe, but Galaga was which is the same concept and a lot of space shooters after it. Space Invaders really made the arcade videogame industry boom and I think it was the most cloned game of all (Pong was cloned a lot too but at that point the concept videogame was very new to the average Joe).


I think this game really deserves a movie on its own.


Oh and I really loved Donkey Kong Junior. I had a trimmed down version of it on a handheld Nintendo Game & Watch (Donkey Kong II). I literally played that thing until it broke.
