This game came to my attention earlier today through a pre-release video review. While it's a new game, it's a throwback in both gameplay and graphics style to 1990's horror-themed first-person shooters such as Doom, Quake, and Blood. The trailer even makes blatant references to those first two.

Personally, I love what this game's going to feature. Heavy blood and gore, a large variety of weapons and some can apparently be dual wielded, options to dumb down the graphics further if the default settings aren't '90s enough for you, and rednecks with chainsaws. Supposedly it's also only going to cost $20. Will buy.

Looks pretty cool! Is going to be released on Steam? Steam is a pretty damn convenient way to get games, but I'll always prefer a physical copy. Hell, I'll probably end up buying this one anywayemoticon. Haven't had a good gaming marathon in ages. I wonder how many hours of gameplay it has?

Yeah, it'll be on Steam. Has a store page https://store.steampowered.com/app/519860/DUSK/ already and I see they added October 31st as a release date. I fully agree with you on both Steam's convenience and the preference of physical copies. Doubt Dusk will get a physical release though. Too bad because that's about all it's missing as a throwback. Not sure how many hours of gameplay it has, but I do know it's supposed to be 33 levels. Hunting for the secret areas and secret levels would add some time too, if you're into that. Hopefully it won't disappoint. emoticon

Looks cool. Yeah, it looks shitty graphics, but it has a charm, for sure. Those low-polygon games are inspiring to someone like me, who's dabbled in FPS game engines. I'm also really curious about how they handle that whole physics bit where he does the flips or whatever.

If I understand correctly, the midair flips are possible simply because the player's y-axis is unlocked. Sounds like it'd be a simple feature to rip off for your own FPS if you wanted to implement it.
