I came up with 5658 so it looks like you may have shorted yourself 50 points. That's damn close to over-throwing Caesar!

You were definitely the serial king. Which serials would you recommend?

I really enjoy when film's recreate "classic" works of art. My favorite may be from Altman's MASH when he recreates The Last Supper:

For some reason I overlooked two "official" Kong films when compiling the list to watch for the fifty point bonus. With those two added in that makes 10 films so now the 50 Point Kong Bonus can be claimed twice.

The two added films are The Mighty Kong and Queen Kong.

I like the natives in Mighty Kong but warning: it has several musical numbers and the ending is kid friendly (up to that point it is fairly loyal to the original):

Hey peeps - looks like you weren't thrilled with Mighty Kong overall (can't really blame you), but what did you think of the natives?

Arrgh. I found King Kong Lives on YT and now I can't find it again. India was about to watch it in Spanish with English closed captions and I sent her the link so hopefully she still has it - and it is still up (I just checked with her and she didn't save the link either). It was a nice looking print in English too! I may have found it under another title - Lady Kong or something like that, but I can't find it now.

There's also two movies that were made as follow-ups to the animated Kong TV show that I decided to count when I added the second possible Kong bonus. The first one is Kong: King of Atlantis and the second is called Kong: Return to the Jungle. Kong fights a snake sorceress in the first and he's pitted against animal poachers in the second. I haven't seen either but I'm planning to watch both in the next couple of days and both are easy to find on YT. I think the first one has some musical numbers.

The show itself got off to a shaky start but after watching 2-3 episodes I started enjoying it - after they toned down the "yo bro" dialogue and lame pizza jokes. I just watched an episode which pitted Kong against a Yeti. The movies are both stand alone so you could watch either one of them without watching the show.

emoticon It's tough losing people we care about or their extended families. I've lost a number of dear friends lately, but the one that upset me the most wasn't one that I really knew, it was my boss' daughter. I really like my boss - she's a very good person. She's no longer my boss now because she retired early to care for her daughter's two young kids after the daughter passed. Anyway, I didn't know her daughter personally so I was really surprised by the depth of emotion that her death brought out in me. Learning about her at her memorial I realized that I had missed knowing a wonderful person, and of course, she was a mom to two youngsters as well.

I hope you and your best friend's family are doing well. Community and the stories we tell each other about the departed are a great balm for healing.

I watched Kong: King of Atlantis. Except for the three musical numbers it's an entertaining, decently animated flick. Two of the three musical numbers are nearly unbearable although kinda funny in a turkey-sort of way.

Unexpectedly, the second Kong movie (Return to the Jungle) also has musical numbers and they are far worse. The animation in that one sucks too - they've gone low-budget and utilyzed cg animation that is very poor. I don't recommend this one at all.

If you're going to watch one of these I say go with Kong: King of Atlantis - it's a lot more fun.

I haven't found an "official" list but if you look up King Kong on Wikipedia you find 12 titles. Two of the twelve are the lost Japanese films from the 30's. I am going to add two more to my "official" list and make it a dozen possibilities which allows more cherrypickin' for anyone who wants to get both 50 point Kong bonuses.

Here's my final official Kong dirty dozen (the first nine had legitimate rights to use the name - the last three are questionable):
KK (1933)
Son of Kong
KK vs. Godzilla
KK Escapes
King Kong (1976)
King Kong Lives
The Mighty Kong
King Kong (2005)
Kong: Skull Island
Queen Kong
Kong: King of Atlantis
Kong: Return To the Jungle

Many of these can be found on YT. emoticon
