You have reached the 2017 Sci/Fi/Fantasy Challenge Progress Spot, so grab your board and hang ten...

Purpose: Watch a lot of Sci/Fi & Fantasy movies, TV and shorts.

Record the minutes of everything you watch for the challenge. The person who watches the most minutes wins!

https://i.imgflip.com/3snea.jpg?a417672

Please keep a running total of your progress at the top or bottom of your post. Confused? Ask questions of your intrepid hosts psychotronicbeatnik and fozmalucachu.

What counts?
Any movie, TV show, TV mini-series, or short that is considered to be in the science fiction or fantasy genres that you watch between September 1 and September 30, 2017. Hybrids count. If you can make an argument for it or find it listed somewhere as being in either genre then it counts.

unles beatnik overrules, i think you should have the 97 for rewatching Predestination. aside from FTVs everything's a rewatch, shouldn't matter if it's within the same month

edit - tho a running total would be appreciated, save my lazy ass adding up for update posts

Agree with beatnik it's well worth the investment. there's close to 100 stories over the three seasons, with most of them penned by the man himself big Rod. some are very short skits (a young Leslie Neilsen pops up in a rare comedy short) but most eps have 2 or 3 longer segments.

as a TZ fan you should check out Tales of the Unexpected based on Roal Dahl's adult short stories, a lot of them can be found on youtube.

thanks. I was tired of the minimalist '.' to book a challenge place so i googled 'sci fi spot image' and found this from a French comic called BlindSpot. Never read it but the pic is eyecatching so may investigate.

Is your pic our Universe or just a fabricated solar systemy type image?

It's also the era when 2000ad, The Galaxies Greatest Comic, was launched!

Are those two Rare Exports Inc horts prequels to the 2010 feature? One of the best Christmas horror fantasy films for me, even with the wierd child semi nudity & old man full frontal. Very European.

Thanks for the REx info and for pointing me toward Aki. I've not seen any of his work, but I am a fan of Scandanavian humour, especially Anders Thomas Jensen. His films are similar in tone to Coen Bros, or if Wes Anderson was less annoying.

I will happily preach the 2000ad gospel all day to anyone who cares to listen, and those who don't. The comic celebrated it's 40th anniversary earlier this year, so there's a hell of a lot to wade through. Dredd is of course the big name, and an easy place to start - the 80s were prob the heyday for writing and artwork, and there are collected 'Case Files' which you could order for your library... also there's a youtube channel that has some short intro vids. They can count toward the challenge!

I'm not sure - it was on Netflix. didn't realise there are alternate ending(s), i'll have a read up. enjoyed the film overall, early on was a bit slow going, too much stock ant footage for my liking, but once the experiment gets going its pretty cool. liked the claustraphobic atmosphere, the sound n some imagery helped create a nice feeling of doom as the scientist realise they're the experiment. But then you'd expect awesome visuals from Saul Bass.

the ending i saw had the surviving scientist attempt to blow up the queen, but whenhe gets into the hive he finds the girl they rescued earlier & realises the ants plan to take over humankind

Sounds good, you'll have to post some pics once you've had it done.

There's a lot of 'Man who felll to earth FULL MOVIE' on youtube, but so far they've all been fakes...
