So, in Primal Fear (1996):
Richard Gere is recapping what has happened, walking out of the courthouse or jail.
He realizes the mistake he's made, feeling like a fool (which is appropriate), but suddenly stops right before crossing the street.

Call me a dunce, but I never saw a point to the ending (at all).
Unless I remember it wrong, and he stops because of the revelation/confession.
But this doesn't make any sense, since it had already happened inside.

I remember not getting the ending of The Ninth Gate at all. You know, the Polanski/Depp flick? I watched it, didn't get the ending, so I looked it up on the imdb message boards. Then someone explained it to me and I understood it... fair enough... then I rewatched it later and didn't get the ending again, so I looked it up again... never found a logical explanation after that. emoticon

Recently, The Green Inferno. I read up on it and sorta get it, but I still don't get. Or rather, I can't agree with the character's motivations at all.

Inside, not the ending, but towards the ending. Zombie cop. So fucking stupid. I hate that movie.

Martyrs, where the ending is deliberately up for interpretation. Fuck that shit. It's way too vague.

The Lords of Salem. The movie itself was pretty lousy in general. Style over substance.

I'm pretty sure Martyrs simply doesn't work philosophically. I "got" the ending, just didn't think it was good.

Nothng comes to mind at the moment, but I didn't get the ending to Vampyres (1974) until I heard the audio commentary track.

Invasion of the Bodysnatchers '78. Has Sutherland been taken over, or is he just having a laugh

I was watching The Usual Suspects while half dozing on the couch and realised that this one takes all of your fully awake concentration, so I had to watch it again.

City of the Living Dead from Fulci
Why the hell did they panic when the kid was running towards them. There wasn't anything wrong with him?

On the case of Fulci, a lot of his movies sucked and had shitty endings. Also like NY Ripper, where it freezes on the guy smiling or walking away or whatever it was. I don't get it. emoticon

I've had to train myself to like Fulci movies, so even though Zombi 2 (my fave) had a great ending of the zombies approaching New York... you still gotta wonder how any of this makes sense. I've come to the conclusion that the fat-ass zombie they shot off the boat in the beginning just... gradually... crawled toward the city, and bit someone to spread it. That's still pure luck though. I don't think the man ever knew HOW to end stuff.

Well I partially agree that Fulci got a bit lost in his love to show gore or just plain weird and erotic scenes (NY ripper is a good example of it) that as viewer it's easy to get lost what the movie is actually about or in worse case loses his attention, gets bored or even dozes of. Totally different from HG Lewis whose gore flicks keep me entertained from first to last minute, even the filler is often amusing.
I think Fulci however came up with better conclusions in his earlier giallos even though personally I didn't find those that satisfying either. Sometimes it was too easy, too coincidental or far fetched. Zombi 2 I think is his best along with HOuse by the Cemetery. The latter in my opinion had potentially the best story (even though the execution felt flawed ans rushed at times) and a quite satifying ending open for different interpretations.

I honestly think they put this together in the studio. I mean if they wrote that as the ending it wasn't shot that way. With that said, I love the movie and it is a top 3 Fulci

Dune. Actually I had no idea what was going on for most of the movie.

Dune was taken from a novel so long that even the extended cut is like a three-hour trailer for what the real thing should have been. I saw it in theater with a friend and he spent the whole movie asking me to explain WTF was going on.

The made-for-TV miniseries is excellent for telling the story, but of course it's no Lynch. The ideal director would have been David Lean. Too bad he wasn't interested in science fiction.

I watched Promethus for the first time last week and yep, didn't get the ending. Or the beginning, or middle for that fact.

Surprisingly I did still enjoy it, especially the scene with the self performed alien abortion.
