I don't love it, I respect it.
I don't need to buy it, as I've seen it many times on TV.

I semi-hated it growing up, constantly hearing about it.
As a teen, my friends had stopped talking about it, and I began respecting it.
Love it or hate it, it's a hard-nosed conversation piece.
Esto perpetua.

It is like one of the old Metallica albums. I respect it but I don't give a shit if I ever hear it ever again. The Shining is the universal go to movie that is creepy and directed well but when people talk about it, it is as if there were no other horror movies before this.

Agreed.
A go-to, but not really a barometer for all that is horror. Per say.

It's a good movie with some great scenes, though I tend to forget about it a lot. It's wonderful to see Jack Nicholson playing a psycho, because he's got the act perfected. The part that creeps me out most is when he passes that guy in the room with the guy in the animal costume. Random/creepy.

I love it, but I more respected it intially. It's a damn fine horror film with great direction and plenty of creepy and bizarre moments. It took me at least three or four viewings to fully appreciate it. It's also understandable why King initailly hated it because it deviated from his novel quite a bit.

Anyone seen that weird documentary, Room 237 pertaining to it? It's interesting how some people have become so obssesed with it and have such bizarre interpretations of it.
