When one of your camp counsellors is a human incarnation of sleaze, calls himself TP, and comes up with this ditty at the campfire - you may want to rethink leaving him in sole charge of young boys in the woods.

Still, could be worse. He could have been with them in the hot tub...

The legend lives, beware the Madman Marz!

Madman is an overlooked 80s camp slasher classic! The atmosphere is incredible in this film. I remember when I first watched this flick: I was really high, and the first thing that happens in this movie is TP singing his strange song, and it confused the hell out of me! I was wondering, "why is this man singing, and why isn't anyone stopping him?!", but I grew to love the abstract presence of this song.

One of my favourite slashers, this one.

There's something about it that is just a little... off, that it becomes unnerving.

I think one of the things I really like about it is how 'normal' that cast look. None of them are standard movie types. Even for a time when not everyone looked like a model, these guys and gals stand out as looking more like regular joes and janes.

It also has some nice kills, and a pretty downbeat ending, before such things became fashionable.

I know what you mean. It's a nightmarish little film that drags you through some dumb scenarios so fluidly, you can't help but go with the flow and be mesmerized by the vivid blue darkness, the awkward characters, and the occasional glimpse of the Madman Marz...

This movie took a couple watches for me to really like. I do fully appreciate it now though. End credits song rules too (don't remember if it's on the opening credits as well or not).
